The Lyrics

when you're a met
you feel fret and dismay
from your opening set
to the season's last day

when you're a met
you'll be booed by the fans
you'll be kicked when you're down
you're a team they can't stand

you'll never atone
you'll never be respected
when ballgames are blown
your egos are affected
you feel dejected

that's what you get
when you show up at shea
you're a team to forget
you don't know how to play
when you're a met
you stay a met

when you're a met
you're the worst team in town
cause those damn yankee kids
wear the heavyweight crown

when you're a met
you won't hit anything
little boys versus men
you strike out when you swing

the mets will be jeered
their type of play just sickens
they don't instill fear
their turnstiles are not clickin'
their fans are chicken

here come the mets
and they look bad as hell
when the game's underway
they just don't play so well

here come the mets
they can't run, tag or slide
they're a team that's unsound
they got no place to hide

the game's on the line
they'll lose again, no kiddin'
forgettin' the signs
they oughta think of quittin'
they just ain't hittin'

here comes the mets
and you'll know they'll be beat
by every last team
they may happen to meet
in the whole...ever...mother...lovin'...league
yeah !

Don't often vote on baseball parodies, but I enjoyed this one - spot on the original, with a lot of invective: so would the Mets count as the Manchester United of baseball, then?

you are correct, phil....and thanks for takin' a look

Great parody, and as my man Phil said, spot on pacing. All 5's from this Yankees fan!

It's fun to laugh at the M-E-T-S. The old Brooklyn Dodgers were "Dem Bums." The Mets are just Bums. The Mess. The Mutts. The team from aptly-named Flushing. Phil: The most boring baseball team (I'll give you a hint: Their fans are known for leaving at the seventh-inning strethc) is more exciting than Manchester United. I wish the YES Network would stop showing that dreck.

Good parody, Alvin. Yankee fans like CD and MP (and presumably, Alvin) should be thankful for the Mets because, even with the Yankees' bad start this year, the Mets still make them look good.

Alvin - Great job. Unlike the Mets, this is a play-off quality parody. 5's.
