Song Parodies -> "MAD Magazine"

Original Song Title:

"Zestfully Clean"

Original Performer:

Zest Soap TV Commercial

Parody Song Title:

"MAD Magazine"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

Been collecting since 1973!
MAD magazine,
MAD magazine,
Alfred "Enigma" Neuman
Always says, 'What, me worry?"

Wacky!
Zany!
Crazy!

Went from $2.99 to $5.99
Which really isn't CHEAP!!!
Miss Monroe, Melvin & Jenkins, Duke Bissel,
and all sorts of things one shouldn't read!!!

Since '52, it's been joke-after-joke
But MAD's an icon for us poor dopes (who can't get enough)
One of my favorites from MAD in the '70s was the list of VERY short books: Polish Wit & Wisdom, Jewish Business Ethics, Italian War Heroes, and Negroes I Have Met While Yachting!!!

"The VERY Short Book" or "The World's Shortest Book" is a great set up for humor and satire: A Treasury of Hillary Clinton Ad Libs; Favorite Mohammed Cartoons of Ayatollah Khamene"i; How Jamaica Revolutionized The Marathon; The NBA's Most Feared Jewish Shot Blockers; Classics of Amish Porn; Hottest Mormon Rappers of 2015; Best One Liners of Bernie Sanders; Jeb Bush's Tips on Exuding Charisma; Famous People Not Yet Insulted by Donald Trump; The Very Short List of Somali Powerlifting Champions ....... You could go on and on with this.

I remember their satire of "Patton". It was actually a lampoon of the character, rather than the movie. One of their best. I don't think it's a monthly anymore. When I was reading it the price was 50 cents.

I still find it offputting they now print on slick color paper and have ads. I feel kinda old.

In that case, order old back issues of National Police Gazette! Just ordered one today for Jan '69 with Raquel Welch! That mag was around for 132 years (1845-1977)! Sorta the old predecessor to National Inquirer and MAD combined! Filled with violence, racism, sexism, and outrageous claims with no scientific nor moral backing.

On a final note, I used to collect them all: MAD, Cracked, Crazy and Sick. Regret getting rid of the last three. Especially Cracked due to the Cracked "Shut-ups!!!"
