A spoonerism occurs when the first letters or syllables of two or more words get swapped.
The term spoonerism is named in honor of the Reverend William Archibald Spooner whose students used to
write down all the instances of spoonerisms that he made. This page focuses on spoonerisms in song lyrics.

This Boston town don't suit my notion and I'm bound for far away.
I'll pack my bags and sail the ocean, and I'll see you on another day.
This Boston town don't suit my potion and I'm bound for far away.
I'll back my nags and sail the ocean, and I'll see you on another day.

For we're going back to Richmond, buddy,
Leavin' here today,
Gonna sell our rifles for a jug,
Get drunk along the way.
For we're going back to Richmond, buddy,
Leavin' deer to hay,
Gonna sell our rifles for a drug,
Get junk along the way.
