And even when you died,
Oh, the press still hounded you.
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude.
Since it was her death that they were reporting, I'm pretty sure that they said she had died, not JUST that she was "found in the nude"!

But all are agreed
When you join the stampede
You should never take more than you give
Well, thanks Elton, I'll be sure and remember that the next time I'm on a stampede.

Down at the well they've got a new machine
The foreman says it cuts manpower by fifteen
Yeah but that ain't natural, well so old Clay would say
You see he's a horse-drawn man until his dying day
'Cuts manpower by fifteen'? Just how many people does it take to draw water from a well, anyway? And I've heard of horse-drawn carts, buggies and trolleys -- but a horse-drawn well?

If love was just a circus, you'd be a clown by now.
Simply makes no sense at all. Love isn't just (just?) a circus, and is becoming a clown a career path?

With eyes that looked like ice on fire
Since ice is non-flammable, there is no such thing as ice on fire. So how could anything look like it? I sound like a talking rock.

It's just my job, five days a week.
I hardly think being an astronaut is a "five day a week" type of job. He sings the rest of the song as though he's far away from home and desperately lonely, then comes this line which implies he gets weekends off??

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
Sorry Elton, but it has been scientifically proven that Mars is, in fact, a very hot and dry atmosphere, one of the hottest known to exist.

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids

Hell is supposed to be hot, not cold.

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids,
in fact, it's cold as hell.
And there's no one there to raise them
If you did.
This is so packed with nonsense it's funny. It's not cold in hell and the "if" condition is an impossibility ("if you did" raise the kids on Mars) because Elton already established that there's nobody to raise them there.

Solar prestige a gammon
Actually, this entire song makes no sense, it's all just a bunch of random words (although if you listen close, it does sounds like he says 5 different types of fish throughout the chorus)

Elton John's,
"Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word"
What do I do when lightning strikes me?
You go crazy. What else? Or how about get yourself to the hospital if you're still living??

Step into Christmas, let's join together
We can watch the snow fall forever and ever
This is all just an oxymoron! First of all, how do you "step" into Christmas? Second of all, you can't watch the snow fall forever and ever because snow doesn't fall forever and ever. The snow HAS to stop falling at some point.

We can watch the snow fall forever and ever.
No you can't. Snow doesn't fall forever and ever.

Through a glass eye your throne
Is the one danger zone
Take me to the pilot for control
Take me to the pilot of your soul
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
The whole song is just complete nonsense; it doesn't really mean anything.

When stars collide, like you and I,
no shadows block the sun.
Shadows block the sun? Doesn't something block the sun to create a shadow? How can a shadow block the thing that produces it?

If I was a sculptor, but then again no.
It's grammatically incorrect, nonsensical and written by Elton and Bernie Taupin. What were these two smoking anyway?
