Rock it hard, rock it steady
Pick yourself up and get yourself ready
Wave your arms let me hear you yell
We're gonna rap about General Hospi-tale
In the summer of 1981, a one-hit wonder group named, Afternoon Delights with lead vocals by Rebecca Hall released a tune about the then #1 daytime drama, ABC-TV's "General Hospital" (has been airing on that network since 1963), entitled, "General Hospi-tale". It was done as an early rap tune about all of the major storylines going on on the show at that time (including one of the most popular starcrossed super-couples of all time on daytime, Luke & Laura Spencer & also about Dr. Noah Drake who was played by actor/singer, Rick Springfield who was having a #1 song on the charts at the time, "Jesse's Girl"). Afternoon Delights' took "General Hospi-tale" all the way into the Top 40 in the fall of 1981 (as I recall somewhere in the Top 20 to 30 positions is how far it went, with on "American Top 40" radio program, dj, Casey Kasem introducing the song giving a breakdown of events on the show for those who didn't watch the show).
