"Richard Thompson""Thompson was shy and quiet within the band, but was a certifiable genius on guitar and as a songwriter, with a breadth of knowledge of styles that gave the band a rich texture that made them unique among folk acts (i.e. they were interesting). The band eventually broke up, and for a while Thompson recorded with his wife Linda, including the classic album, "Shoot Out The Lights". After their split, Thompson became a frontman on his own since the mid-1990s recording a series of folk/rock records of brilliant songwriting, performing and humour." - P Smith

Misheard Lyrics:

"Wandering Man"
Misheard Lyrics:

"Reynardine"
Misheard Lyrics:
For I'll be in my church
In choir with Reynardine.
Original Lyrics:
For I'll be in my castle
Inquire for Reynardine.

Misrhymed Song Lyrics:

"Tam Lin"
The Misrhymed Lyrics:
They will turn me in your arms into a newt or a snake
Oh, hold me tightly in your arms
I am your baby's father
Why They're Misrhymed:
Okay, so the song's an adaption of an old English folk tune and wasn't actually written by the band, and Sandy Denny does her best with such ridiculous lyrics, but it doesn't rhyme and just sounds daft.

Inappropriate Song Lyrics:

"Rocky Road"
The Inappropriate Lyrics:
I've met with poor men who were kings and rich men who were slaves
And I've knelt beneath the spires
Why They're Inappropriate:
The song kicks along nicely with Simon Nicol and Chris Leslie singing the opening two verses. Dave Pegg, the Fairport basist, then takes over for the final verse and for some reason this non -sensical mixed up lyric appears with Pegg struggling to pronounce the final word 'spires' in rhythm with the rest of the song and it isn't just because he is an awful vocalist either!!
