"Black Betty"
The Repetitive Lyrics: Whoa, Black Betty (bam-BA-lam),
Whoa, Black Betty (bam-BA-lam), She's from Birmingham (bam-BA-lam), Way down in Alabam' (bam-BA-lam). Why They're Repetitive: "bam-BA-lam" occurs at the end of EVERY line. I was sitting in a fast-food restaurant trying to eat my lunch, when this came on the sound system. It didn't take too many "bam-BA-lams" in this raucous song to nearly drive me crazy. I just couldn't wait until the song quit playing. I could only ask myself "What were they thinking" to put that raucous repetition unrelentingly at the end of all the lines.
