"Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" | Should be known as 'The Bloody Red Baron', but this was the 60's so 'bloody' may have been too explicit for that time. - Paul Warren |

"Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: After the turn of the century,
In the clear blue skies over Germany, Came a roar and a thunder men had never heard, Like the screamin' sound of a big war bird. Why They're Nonsensical: I too have (still) never hear any roar or thunder that sounded like any screaming (whatever a big war bird might be). Screaming is quite a different sound from either a roar or thunder. So the comparison makes no sense.

"Snoopy For President"
The Dated Lyrics: The time had come in '68 to elect a president
Why They're Dated: '68 came and went long ago. In fact, the 'in '68' part is edited out on the 'Anthology' CD version so as not to appear dated.

The Dated Lyrics: After the turn of the century
Why They're Dated: This line (the first in the song) refers to the turn of the 20th century, not the 21st like many people now believe when 'turn of the century' is by itself. So people who are new to the song (or were new to it after 2000 but now understand the lyrics, me for example) will at first think it's the turn of the 21st century.
