Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Bernadino love song
Heard it in a love song.
The Story: My sister-in-law overheard my brother (her husband) singing this line incorrectly as 'Bernadino Love Song', and was absolutely ridiculing him for it. He got the last laugh, however, when he heard her getting the rest of the song wrong herself, replacing 'Can't be wrong' with 'Ten feet long!' - Submitted by: Paula Tamm
Purty little love song
Ten feet long.
Heard it in a love song
Can't be wrong.
The Story: I heard the song on a local rock station yesterday. I realised he wasn't singing "ten feet long", like I thought forever. It took 29 hours and this website to clear it up for me. I am so relieved I'm not the only one who misunderstood those lyrics. - Submitted by: Doug

Purty little love song
Heard it in a love song
The Story: I simply have always thought that the singer, with his thick, probably somewhat affected southern accent (it's less strong in his other songs), was singing "pretty little love song", but it was coming out "purty little love song". A song about a pretty song. I just now was looking to see if I knew any songs by Marshall Tucker Band. I knew two others, but this only only seems vaguely, strangely familiar. So I was listening to it, and realized suddenly that it was "Purty Little Love Song", and that for forty-something years I'd had the name wrong. - Submitted by: Kaz Vorpal
