Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).
Tiffany - Greatest Hits album at Amazon.com
And melodies are forever
And memories are forever
The Story: I kept confusing myself between "memories" and "melodies". - Submitted by: Cody Finke
You can hug a teddy bear
On a cold and lonely night
You can't hold what could've been
On a cold and lonely night
The Story: I kept thinking it sounded like cuddling up with a teddy bear in bed. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Tiffany's,
"I Think We're Alone Now"
I stink I'm alone now
I think we're alone now
The Story: I was walking down the street in Montreal, when a VERY drunk French-Canadian ran by us, skipping all the way, singing the this lyric... - Submitted by: Matthew Quatroche
Tiffany's,
"I Think We're Alone Now"
I think we're in love now
I think we're alone now
The Story: I used to hear this song driving to gymnastics sometime in the 80's. I must have been 7 or 8 and I was never allowed to sing outloud in the car. I would always hear Tiffany whisper...'I think we're in love now', and I had secret crushes on boys at the time and it just fit so perfectly. She goes on to talk about the only sound is that of their beating hearts. It was so quiet because they were Kissing!!! being little is cool. - Submitted by: Jen Perry
Tiffany's,
"I Think We're Alone Now"
Spring's in the air
Children behave
The Story: I always thought that mine was the correct lyric. At college, I used to go to a nightclub called 'Spring's' where they played this song a lot, and I thought it was because it mentioned 'spring's'. - Submitted by: Lee McFarlane
Tiffany's,
"I Think We're Alone Now"
Then you put your arms around me and we're turning super-brown.
Then you put your arms around me and we tumble to the ground.
The Story: I aquired a copy of the song and gave my flat-mate a copy. He came by later to ask me what 'super-brown' meant. It amused me for days. - Submitted by: Ross Fleming
I wonder if you’re glistening
I wonder if you’re listening
The Story: Once again, why we confuse “listen” with “glisten”, especially since both words appear in the song “Winter Wonderland”. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
