Story about this misheard lyric by: Cody Finke Once again, why we confuse “listen” with “glisten”, especially since both words appear in the song “Winter Wonderland”. |

"I Think We're Alone Now"
The Repetitive Lyrics: Can't you hear a heart beat?
Why They're Repetitive: I enjoy that song very thoroughly until that moment then I suddenly get fed up. Which is a shame as it's a great song. And for thoes who have seen the music video; WTF does the 'Baggage' sign have to do with this line?!

"I Think We're Alone Now"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: Trying to get away into the night
Why They're Nonsensical: Getting away from some situation means finding another place to get to. Night is not a place. This reminds me of a line from some time-travel movie where one character says to another "We gotta get the heck out of now!" But I don't think this song is about time travel, however much of a "lost in the 80s" feeling it might elicit.

The Nonsensical Lyrics: Look at the way
we've gotta hide what we're doing. Don't care what they say. Why They're Nonsensical: If you don't care what you're parents think then why hide what you're doing?

"I Think We're Alone Now"
The Dirty Lyrics: Children behave
that's what they say when we're together And watch how you play They don't understand and so we're Running just as fast as we can Holding on to one another's hand Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me and we tumble to the ground and then you say I think we're alone now there doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now The beating of our hearts is the only sound. Why They're Dirty: This song seems to be about how kids can sneak away to have sex when their parent's backs are turned.

The Dirty Lyrics: Then you put your arms around me
and we tumble to the ground... Why They're Dirty: I was young when this came out, so I figured that they were falling down because they tripped or something. I heard the song on the radio once when I was about 15 and realized that sweet little Tiffany was talking about getting her teenage freak on. It was quite an ephiany, and the whole song finally made sense. I'm a little slow sometimes.

"I Think We're Alone Now"
The Lyrics: And so we're runnin' just as fast as we can
Holdin' on to one another's hand. Why: It is incorrect to say "one another" when referring to two people. "One another" is used in reference to three or more people. "Each other" is used in reference to two people. Therefore, the correct lyrics should be "Holdin' on to EACH OTHER'S hand."
