Original Song Title:

"Let Down"

Original Performer:

Bif Naked

Parody Song Title:

"Ditty"

Parody Written by:

Peter Andersson a.k.a K1chyd

The Lyrics

Expressions can be strange. Like when artists say they are gonna let their music speak for it self. What the Hell does that mean? I've never heard music speak for itself. Have you? I bet you haven't. Not until now that is, so let's all listen to what a song can have to say).*

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here:

Won't be a hit in a billion years
Sucking dust in my studio's basement
Not even sold by vinyl marketers
Sometimes I'm longing for some hot rotation

Why can't the oldies stations bring me back
I would put out for any has-been emcee
So what my master tape is full of hacks
And I've grown mold so much I'm pushing daisies

I'm a ditty, pardon me
I'm a ditty and a deportee
'Make a gritty mp3
I'm a ditty, do you like me?

At best some old farts hum me in a bar
I had my fifteen minutes 1980
A mullet front man, synth and two guitars
I ain't no Stairway to Heaven baby

I'm a ditty, pardon me
I'm a ditty, writ' on LSD
I'm so shitty, O-M-G!
I'm not pretty, but please love me!
Please love me!
Please love me!

No? No? No?

Now I'm not supreme
Was sold second hand
When I came along
I got no esteem
I'm stored in a can
That's right!

And to the tweenies I do not exist
Ain't been on MTV since eighty-seven
And when they voted for an all time list
I came eight-hundred-thousand-twenty-seven

I'm a ditty, pardon me
And take pity, make a parody
Make it fit the FCC
So they'll shit thee not like me
Do you like me?
Do you like meeee?

No? Get out! Get out!!!

I like how the tone of the music went from funny to angry although angry in a funny way.

SOTM(NOV)

The OS covers the loser in the parody perfectly. This parody is very accurte. Well done Peter.

(SOTM) Do I like it? Yeah I liked it. :) It loses points, however, for using a bit much of the OS lyrics in key places. You also ended up rhyming seven with itself when "heaven" or even "eleven" would have been that special extra step. Sorry, Pete.

Sir, you sound like BillyRayCyrus . . . a leftOver from the 80's who finally "got with it", and invented his little MissMyley !

(SOTM) It's alright to be a little ditty :) I do have to agree with Agrimorfee on using a bit much of the OS. Funny song though, I enjoyed it.

Intresting idea, not exactly LOL funny, but more clever than anything.
MasonR - December 12, 2008 - Report this comment
DKTOS, but the concept was, as Matthias said, clever.

Very clever, Peter. Definitely needs the intro, but very clever. Especially liked your use of 'O-M-G', and the 'personality' of the song. GET OUT! GET!!!!! OUT!!!!

(SOTM) Well, that was interesting, in a bizarre and surreal way. I do believe I shall vote 555, then I'll get back to my stash, so I can keep the weird feeling I got from this parody.

Indeed

(SOTM) nice empathy here Peter, and it's so random, the poor ditties. If they have a good father like John Lennon or Leonard Cohen, it's like being sent to a private school - privilege - I also liked the idea of our poor hero being ranked 800,027 except for the fact that seven rhymed with seven - 555

This was interesting...everyone commenting seems to agree and I agree with them. Rhyming something with itself once in a while is fine when improvising songs but for something that's supposed to be thought out and polished it could result in poetic license suspension if such a thing was possible.

(SOTM) I really like that you take on unique awesome original songs I've never heard, helps me spread my musical appreciation, good parody about those forgotten songs.
