The Lyrics

i've never written an end of the year parody before but there's no time like the present

Britney got hitched two times
Will can't sing worth a dime
Friends went off the air
Nobody really cared
Ashlee's reflux got blamed
Then there's that football game
Wardrobe malfunction
More trouble for her kin

Popularity for Atkins
Bodies transformed in The Swan
Balco helped with Barry's bat
Now is his glory gone?
The Red Sox won it all, Pacers and Pistons brawled
Looking back it is clear, who had a really big year

There's

Usher, and Kanye
Jay-Z and Beyonce
Jon Stewart, Dave Chappelle
And sequels doing very well
The Donald, and Paris
Democrats got embarrassed
But nothing much from Al Gore
In 2 thou, 2 thou, two thousand and four

It's the year of movies
That you hate or love
Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ
Fahrenheit 9/11
They locked out hockey
Didn't really affect me
Bush still loves Rummy
In spite of the prison's infamy

New Orleans Hornets just cannot win
It doesn't seem that we'll ever get Bin Laden
So-called morality destroyed Kerry
But that is over now
What have we heard on the radio?

There's

Usher, and Kanye
Jay-Z and Beyonce
Alicia, Maroon 5
Not Whitney who just cannot drive
Twista, and Green Day
Lil' Jon saying OK
And there was a whole lot more
In Two thou, two thou, two thousand and four

I wonder what am I
Going to witness in 2005?
I know somebody's gonna do something
But will it top...

Usher, and Kanye
Jay-Z and Beyonce
Jon Stewart, Dave Chappelle
And sequels doing very well
The Donald, and Paris
A big year for Ludacris
J.Lo marrying once more
In two thou, two thou, two thousand and four

The parody was a lot better than the year

(SOTM) DKTOS, seemed plotted and planned quite smoothly, though.

(SOTM) A great end-of-year parody. Loved it!

WHAT??? They locked out the NHL, and since I'm Canadian, I want to sue that stupidhead we like to call Gary Bettman. You should rewrite it to "They locked out hockey/And it affected me" Neway, great parody.

Intricately written, many great subs for the original. (Faves: the movies, "Bin Laden" for "Van Halen," and your sub for "When did reality become TV?") Top-notch work as usual, E-Thang.

Very good

I already voted "Chimney Damage" as SOTM, but this one comes at a close second (since we're not allowed to vote for our own songs [just kidding]). Keep writing and making us laugh, Ethan.

Very good summary of the year. I used to think the Summer Olympics were a big deal, but 2004 was an Olympics year, and your parody appropriately excluded the event.

(SOTM) DKTOS very well, Ethan, and not familiar with all the references, but a good job nonetheless!
