"My Heart Will Go On (Theme from 'Titanic')"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"My Partner Leon"

Parody Written by:

Wendy Christopher

The Lyrics

Once I met a stranger, who lived for real danger
Tall and blonde his name was Leon
Such instant attraction to this man of action
Wasn’t long ‘til we got it on

But – oh! – how was I to know
That he had no co-ordin-a-tion
I’d heard of dumb sporty nerds
Who were clumsy as hell and my partner Leon was one

Spent his life in plaster, extreme sports disaster
Dates all ended in A&E
Two left feet and no brain, with permanent groin strain
But I stood by him faithfully

One day he heard someone say
That to go bungee jumping was fun
Boldly he said “That’s for me!”
So we drove to a place and my partner Leon went on

(Wispy, flute-y interlude bit, building up to Big Dramatic Finish!!)

No hope with that bungee rope
No-one knew it was two feet too long
Went smack and didn’t bounce back
Took one dumb leap of faith and my partner Leon was gone!

Wonderful stuff, Wendy! The title sub was brilliant and the story just built and built to the payoff- "No-one knew it was two feet too long/ Went smack and didn’t bounce back"...bravo!

p.s. When are we going to see you in the comps? C'mon; you know you want to...;-)

Good, creative rhyming, Wendy. I second Kristof's suggestion.

:-D

Couldn't remember the OS (you may find that hard to believe, but I've also never seen the film) - super arwenesque storyline (which is a compliment, btw), and a brilliant splat at the end.

Titanic movie was actually made in the 90's (in fact, it was in theatres ten yrs ago this very month), but I think you did a great job with the parody here. The rhyming and pacing and all that was excellent; I give you a perfect 555. Also I third kristof's suggestion.

I love this song and this movie. Loved your parody. Yes, it was indeed in the 90's.

Hi Wendy. I like the Los Straitjackets version (it's instrumental - no Celine warbling!) of the OS.Your parody is real good too. Ever heard of Evel Knieval? He was a stunt devil and he made extreme motorcycle jumps over places like the Snake River Canyon. He got banged up a lot too. Badly. Oh yes, Phil - as for the movie: you ain't really missed too much, unless you wanna look at Kate Winslet for hours on end - it's pretty boring.
