The Lyrics

This parody is personal and not humorous, so I have no expectations for it. Anyway...so, today's my birthday. And ever since I turned 26 two years ago, the thought of birthdays and especially having one tends to depress me. Because I know I'm on the downhill slide towards the dreaded 30. Even though, I have a job and am independant, I'm still very immature in a lot of way, and sometimes I feel I should get with it and act my age. So, this parody just depicts a conversation with myself.
You should just look into that mirror there
and really look close at your face
if you were smart, man, you would care
But you still insist on living in a dream
that dumb smile upon your face
trying to ignore the years
You try to keep your youth inside of you, but it's make believe
you know it isn't real
The big 3-0, it is closing in on you, you should be feeling it today
Now, can't you see?

Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
it's no lie (it's a lie!)
That you're old (I'm not old!)
Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
you're immature (are you sure?)
So, grow up! (I'll grow up!)

You should take all the foolish games you play
throw them all away
and really get yourself prepared
So what, if then, your life is kinda sad
Well, what can you say?
Real life, it isn't fair
The big 3-0, it is closing in on you, you should be feeling it today
Now, can't you see?

Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
it's no lie (it's a lie!)
that you're old (I'm not old!)
Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
you're immature (are you sure?)
So, grow up! (I'll grow up!)
Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
it's no lie (it's a lie!)
that you're old (I'm not old!)

Your youth is far away from you (it's not that far away)
you'll never bring back yesterday (bring back yesterday)
You're just now, too old it's true (Hey!)
no matter what the hell you say
Youth's gone away from you
you'll never bring back yesterday

Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
it's no lie (it's a lie!)
that you're old (I'm not old!)
Twenty-eight, you're twenty-eight
you're immature (that's for sure!)
so, grow up! (I'll grow up!)

BUT I NEVER WANT TO GROW UP!

It's no lie (it's a lie!)
that you're old (I'm not old!)

I NEVER WANT TO GROW UP!

It's no lie (it's a lie!)
that you're old (I'm not old!)

An excellent soliloquy, Billy...You say you're from Oklahoma...this sounds like it could have come right out of Rodgers and Hammersteins great show, "Oklahoma"........keep up the good work....but, hey 28 ain't even in the "Old" neighborhood...I'm an ancient mariner,...when people ask my age..I tell'em..."Old enough to know better, but still young enough not to give a damn!".....
