Song Parodies -> "American Parodist"

Original Song Title:

"American Idiot"

Original Performer:

Green Day

Parody Song Title:

"American Parodist"

Parody Written by:

Red Ant

The Lyrics

DKTOS? MP3 here. I intentionally didn't vary the chorus on this one.
[intro]

Just wanna be an American parodist

Though spoofing this song is far from original

What I sing's not profound or hysterical

Rather minimal, that's not so terrible

Well come all and hear my invention
It's of course my latest creation...
Everything doesn't have to be,
A great..

I can here ya screamin' in sorrow
'This song is dumb and (is) hard to swallow'...
Well that'd* be tough to argue!

Hell maybe they'll play this on the radio

As the main part of an all-day request show

Now everybody get to the telephone

Ask for mah' song ev'ry day 'til it annoys ya!

Well come all and hear my invention
It's of course my latest creation...
Everything doesn't have to be,
A great..

I can here ya screamin' in sorrow
'This song is dumb and (is) hard to swallow'...
Well that'd* be tough to argue!

[solo]

Just wanna be an American parodist
Take a song re-write it as I see fit
This vocation pays? Ask Al Yankovic
(But) as for me it is all for the love of it

Well come all and hear my invention
It's of course my latest creation...
Everything doesn't have to be,
A great..

I can here ya screamin' in sorrow
'This song is dumb and (is) hard to swallow'...
Well that'd* be tough to argue!

[outro]

*Pronounce as one syllable. If you can't, read the line as "That would be tough to argue". If you need the parenthetical words to make it pace, use them, otherwise ignore them.

Thanks Alvin, Step-chan, Pat and the anonymous voters. A revolt? In more ways than one.

I must admit when I saw another 'American Idiot' parody on here, I groaned. Then I saw your name, and figured you do something different and probably better, and I must say you delivered. Best parody I've seen of this 'okay-first-time-you-hear-it-but-it-gets-old-very-fast' and extremely overplayed song. All 5's.

Thanks Billy Boyd and Larry. Billy Boyd - I groaned at the thought too of doing this OS due to it having been parodied quite a bit last year.

This wasn't a very funny parody, I didn't see the humour. I'm a little tired of these songs about parodies and making parodies. None of them are my personal favourites. I gave you a 111. Do Red Ants eat feces? Would have liked it better if it was 'American Toi-a-let'.

I did not write the above comment. To answer the imposter's question: they don't. I know this one does NOT.

I find myself in the strange situation of thanking the real PL for putting the fake PL in its place..........

You captured the image and viewpoints of all us "American" Parodists, and I'm sure those who aren't American too!
