Song Parodies -> "Nickelodeon Idiot 11: Wake Me Up in 2010"

Original Song Title:

"Wake Me Up When September Ends"

Original Performer:

Green Day

Parody Song Title:

"Nickelodeon Idiot 11: Wake Me Up in 2010"

Parody Written by:

Chris Bodily TM

The Lyrics

Had to change the title because of song-title-length restrictions. First and foremost, congratulations to Green Day for sweeping the Kid's Choice Awards with their two nominations. That might seem like an ironic way to start the eleventh installment of an anti-present-day Nickelodeon rock opera, but I was among those who voted for this great band. Special thanks to Agrimorfee and everyone else for their suggestions. This parody very closely mimics the video, since none of the other installments parody the videos. (In fact, I didn't get to see the Jesus of Suburbia video until I had already completed the parody.) I don't think this parody needs much more explanation. But if I do need to explain some things, I'll just add comments.
[Snicky resumes his Pete & Pete episode until it is over with. He then stops the DVD and takes it out, and then shuts everything off and goes to bed. He starts dreaming about the recent cancellation of All That, one of Snicky's favorite shows from the Good Old Days. He dreams of what he would have done to save the show.]

[Nickelodeon President Herb Scannell and All That co-creator/producer Dan Schneider are in a room to discuss the doomed future of All That. The two shake hands.]

**Herb Scannell**
"You know... they say All That sucks. In fact... they say it was never the same after Season 6: The magic is gone.... The cast is gone...The chemistry is fak--"

[Snicky comes into the room unannounced.]

**Snicky**
"Mr. Schneider, St. Snicky. I am a huge fan of your early work."

**Scannell**
"Who are you and what are you doing here? We're in the middle of a meeting."

**Snicky**
"I know... the outcome.... of this meeting. You can't do it, Mr. Scannell. You cannot take away one of the best shows of the 1990s. People grew up on All That... watched it religiously...."

**Scannell**
"The writing now is just.... atrocious. And the chemistry is obviously faked. None of them has what it takes to be the.... Kenan & Kel of Present Day. Lil JJ doesn't live up to Danny Tamberelli's Vital Information, let alone the Lori Beth Denberg original. And so.... This is what the future has in store... for All That..."

[The song begins.]

All That has come and passed
The Classic Nick can never last
[Baggin' Saggin' Barry is pulling Abraham Lincoln out of his baggy pants.]
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

[The Loud Librarian is bowling in the library.]
Like Herb Scannell's hung his hat
'Leven years has gone so fast
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

[Lori Beth Denberg is giving out Vital Information.]
Here comes the Gak again
Splattered on the walls
Drenched in my slime again
What shows are canned in fall?

[Josh Server asks for a Good Punch and Ed the Good Burger cahier literally gives him a good punch -- and knocks him unconscious.]
As my memory rests
Nick never does what we suggest
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

(The song stops upruptly)

**Snicky**
[Frantic, hysterical, wailing] "Oh my God, how could you do this!!??!! This is bull****!! F**k it, man! Give the show another chance, please, pretty please, pretty please with sugar and coffee on top!!?? Or chocolate for that matter!!??"

**Scannell**
"Stop! Stop, just listen! It's a mercy killing, Snicky! Why don't you understand!!?? I did this for us!! For us!! I thought you'd be proud of me! You don't understand why I did this!!!"

[Snicky continues sobbing unintelligibly.]

(The song resumes. The bass and drums play in unison with the acoustic guitar.)

[Snicky continues moping.]
All That has come and passed
[The cast of All That -- Seasons 1-6 -- board a bus to military school.]
The Good Old Days are not surpassed
[The drill seargent is screaming Kenan's ear off.]
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

[Heffer and Amanda get their heads shaved completely bald.]
Bring out the couch again
Like we did when SNICK began
[Count Duckula, Ren, Stimpy, Kenan, Kel, Rocko, Danger Mouse, and Spongebob get their heads shaved.]
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

[All of the Nick stars and characters -- past and present -- are out there on the front lines in full military uniform.]
Here comes the Gak again
Melting in my palm
Drenched in my slime again
Nick's turned into Saddam

[The camera goes back and forth between the Nickelodeon Civil War and Snicky crying over All That's tragic death.]
Weinerville has dropped dead
And Pelswick's never seen again
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

(Guitar solo)

[The All That cast, Alanis Morrisette, Les Lye, Count Duckula, Danger Mouse, Spongebob, Timmy Turner, Danny Phantom, etc. are all out on the frontlines -- in military uniform and shaved heads.]

[There is a sudden explosion just seconds into this guitar solo. Kel Mitchell is standing right next to it, but doesn't get hurt. However, Josh Server sprains his ankle and is limping.]

[Kenan and Rocko are in a jet plane and drop bombs over Rock Zilla, who is instantly hit and rushed to a medical unit.]

[Drake and Josh team up to shoot at Squidward, Jorgen von Strangle, Cosmo & Wanda, and Danny Phantom, but have terrible aim.]

[Jorgen von Strangle drops a grenade over Count Duckula, who dies instantly.]

[Ed and Bev Bighead shoot Ned Bigby of Ned's Declassified in the left arm, and accidentally shoot Ren & Stimpy to death.]

[The Rugrats attack their All Grown Up counterparts via military jets.]

[The only survivors are the live-action people. Classic Nick won the battle.]

[Snicky is still crying. Right now, he is crying over Dan Scheider's shoulder.]

[Kenan hops in the cannon for no apperant reason. He just keeps shooting cannonballs at a giant statue of Spongebob.]

All That has come and passed
Re-reunite the Classic Cast
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten

[Snicky washes his face to get rid of the tears, but he continues crying.]
Like the Nineties came to pass
Thirty years has almost passed
Wake me up when the decade ends.
[Danny Tamberelli gets shot in the leg by Mr. Krabbs.]
Wake me up in Two Thousand Ten
Wake me up when the decade ends

[The song ends.]

**Dan Schneider**
"Look on the bright side, Snicky. The show celebrated ten years. And maybe the classics will be released on DVD some day, and maybe the full original cast will reunite. Who knows?..."
For those wondering who Herb Scannell is, he's the now-former president of Nickelodeon. He was Nick's president from 2003 to January 2006.

545, not familiar with the show(don't have cable right), but a very good parody and very elaberate layout.

Hmm. Very long, don't you think? I'm not quite old enough to have appreciated the "Old" All That cast, so I don't really get this. But it was funny. Well done, but it was just waaaaay too long.

Everyone misses old Nick, I don't get why they can't show reruns... Either way, this was a pretty solid parody, but the actions going on and the script reading complicated it. Ehhh... 444

Very well written

You did a nice job of adding to the humor with the "screenplay", for lack of a better word. Ever consider a career in film? (just half-kidding). Congrats on finishing the damn thing. 555

(SOTM) see above... Addenda--I got to see/hear the video today. Let me tell you folks, it's *integral* to the play the video before reading this. This may be the first time a VIDEO has been parodied on Amiright!

SOTM - There's no guarantee that it will still be there when you (whoever you are) read this, but I found the original song here:

(SOTM) I never really appreciated the dialogue you interject into these songs before this...but wow. Your best installment so far, Chris. Why is this not rated higher? Let the children of Nickelodeon unite!

(SOTM) This was pretty good.

I doubt that Nick will get any better by 2010... But they did get rid of Slime Time Live so there is some promise... However they did get rid of DOUG.... Those bastards!!!!

(SOTM) Top notch pacing, Chris, but...did you have to have all those actions in there? You know with all the Nick people getting there heads shaved and whatever? Makes it a tad confusing to read.

(SOTM) Unique and interesting. 555

(SOTM) I've seen the video, though not in a while. You link didn't work for me, and since I have dial up d/l a 5 minute long video would take like a really long time. Great pacing to TOS, and the dialogue/actions are great too, especially the violence. 5s.

(SOTM) This parody is an excellent example of the wise use of verse-structure and parenthetical narration.

Works as a parody, but I've still no knowledge of (nor interest in) Nickelodeon, so it kind of by-passes me, I'm afraid.
Stuart McArthur - May 30, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) yes, what Phil said, Chris, but so much work obviously went into this, that's a shame - but I'm pretty impressed by how impressed the people who know the world of Nickleodeon are :-)

(SOTM) I can tell that a lot of work went into this. However, it's one that would be better suited for a music video (and what a music video it would be!) I need to brush up on my Green Day song recognition...
