The Lyrics

For the 2018 Green Green Day Day challenge. And also to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the classic 1968 film "Bullitt". If you don't know what I'm talking about, YouTube the car chase and you'll understand.
I'm on the couch at home
A movie, one of my faves that I own
Dolby stereo
Pause, back up, repeat, as I watch alone

I gawk the famous scene
Mustang, "Bullitt", Charger and Steve McQueen
San Francisco streets
The same Bug more than once, and a lot of smoke

I want my own, I want my own
I'll shop my own, till I've bought a

Mustang, old one with the big block three-ninety
Mustang, Ford parts restore a vintage GT
Sometimes I wish mob Charger men will find me
I'll run them off the road

[revving and double clutching sounds]
Rmm, Rmm, RAAA-RAAA, Vmm, Vmm, RAAAA-RAAAA
Rmm Rmm, Vmm Vmm, RAAAA-RAAAA

I walk around these lines
Fastback styling, Torq Thrust rims combined
No you Phillistine, dump the red
And spray the proper code

Green will be just fine
Plates come up from DMV online
Black and gold design, J-J-Z-one-oh-nine
And I've got a clone

A Bullitt clone, my Bullitt clone
My Bullitt clone that I wanted

My Stang's so popular at Cars and Coffee
Known to old farts; kids think McQueen is Lightning
Oh my, that is another film entirely
Well then I rocket home

[revving and double clutching sounds]
Rmm Rmm, RAAA-RAAAA, Vmm Vmm, RAAA-RAAAA
Rmm Rmm, Vmm Vmm

I rock the clone, and I rock a...

...Dark polo neck and tweed
Romp this Bullitt car of Highland Green
From the silver screen
And I'm the only one, yeah I got one-

My Schifrin score, is all that's on when driving
My growling car, sends phony villains fleeing
Sometimes I wish I joined the SFPD
Hell I'm a Bullitt clone
Because someone has to write songs about cars.

Wow, was McQueen’s car green? That I don’t remember, but I loved the chase scene. Nice way to work mustangs into the Green challenge wannabe! 555

I too was curious on how you were going to work "Green" into the topic of cars and I think you did quite well here. I haven't seen this movie, which is a shame because I'm a big film guy with both new and classics. Loved the Lightning McQueen "Cars" reference + turning the "Ahh-Ahhs" into car noises. All really funny stuff!

Another great title. Mighta gone for "Paint It Sage after Fender Bends."

I really liked this read. My fave part was "The same Bug more than once" - common stuff in films when you look closely enough (or watch often enough, heh heh...). I also liked the homage at the end to Lalo Schifrin's work, a worthy shout out!

Never seen the film, so I probably may not appreciate this one as much as it deserves. However, your writing is sharp and clean, with a lot of power under the hood. 555

Well, you certainly lived up to your name with this one....I probably saw that movie when I was really young but I did just Youtube that chase scene. Great stuff, they don't do 'em like that anymore - loved the guy putting shells into his shotgun as if that's something anybody ever does haha. And how many damn Volkswagen Bugs were there anyway? It looked like 5 or 6 in one shot at one point, plus that green one over and over again. Anyway. Great stuff as always, not a big car guy so a lot of the details went over my head but loved the "no you Philistine" part especially.

The writer here seems to have white line fever... [insert your own pun here to stretch the joke into green territory].

Besides The Magnificent Seven, Steve McQueen has shockingly not been in my cinema viewing wheelhouse. That needs to be rectified. (I know his last movie "The Hunter" has the iconic car dropping off of Marina Towers in my beloved downtown Chicago...)

I miss the Mustangs from back in the 80s and 90s. I missed the film as well, but enjoyed the song.

Well, now, if ever there were a song parody to be written by a wannabe Mustang jockey, this would be it. For Agrimorfee and anyone else new to the concept of Steve McQueen: You absolutely MUST see The Great Escape. (The whole movie.) And Bullitt. (The car-chase scene Agrimorfee tributes above.) So drop everything else and go do those two things. Meanwhile, yay for this. And I'll admit I didn't know what a "Schifrin score" was - I thought it must be some sort of ranking of gearhead machismo or something - so I Googled it. Hey! Lalo SCHIFRIN is the composer who did the SCORE for Bullitt! See what you learn from people like WBMJ?

*Not the car-chase scene Agrimorfee tributes. The car-chase scene wannabemustangjockey tributes. Duh.
