The Lyrics

I leave my cube
Right smack at five
Drive up the canyon where I feel so ali-ive
I take a swim
And nature nap
Spin through the meadows like Maria von Tra-app

Oh simple life
Where have you gone?
And I'm not talking 'bout that crap with Paris Hilton
This IS the place
My kinda neighborhood
I think I'll quit my job and move up here for goo-ood

I catch a fish
And climb a tree
I'm like Snow White - the birds are singing with me-ee
I'm full of grace
And peaceful thought
But when I get back to the parking lo-ot

I can't believe
My car is gone
Ain't this place safe? I left my keys in the ignit-ion
Hey come here brat
Gimme your freakin' phone
It's getting dark and I need some way to get ho-ome

And IF you saw, please tell me where'd the thief go
BASS-turd's got my postcards from Oswego
FIG-ures of Orlando, Liv, and Viggo
And my ray-dee-o
Someone stole my Geo

Someone stole my Geo-wo

Oh Jap machine
Where have you gone?
Hey 9-1-1, I say, my Metro's gone, I'm cry-un'
It's brown and greeeen
And it's an '89
The cops just laugh and say they doubt if that's a cri-ime

I USED to cruise I-80 out to Reno
CLOSE my eyes and speed like Al Pacino
HOPPED up on Clorets and cappuccino
Now I'm just P.O.'d
I got no Geo-wo

Ooh-a-ah
Aaah-ah-oh

ALL-State says replacement value's zero
That hurts my ego
Someone stole my Geo

Nature gives you B.O.
Someone stole my Geo

Don't Know The Original Song? It's temporarily available at spaff.com/dktos

Brave move doing a Keane song, Spaff. I will note your fondness for mildly pretensious, maudlin British 3-piece musical combos for future reference, and possibly as blackmail material.;-) On a serious note, great job....555

Love it!m 555! Now Id like to see you do "Who Took My Geo Away?" to "Everytime You Go Away" Funny you mention Paris cause Keane was the musical guest on SNL when she hosted

Ha! Fantastic! DKTOS, but this is terrific... and quite the shout-out to the dearly departed Only Thread That Matters, complete with references to bass-turds, Geos (Ashkicksass' lemon), and Ash and Arwen's beloved Orlando.

p.s. - Is there some brilliant hidden meaning to your all-caps in this one? I'm too dense to catch it...

DKTOS or, what you're referring to but, it was a good read...5s

I was wondering when someone would get around to doing Keane here (if it wasn't me). I bow to the king once again. 555
Arwen - June 08, 2005 - Report this comment
I don't know the original either, (and yes, i'm too lazy to check out the reference right now) but dammit, Leo...the Geo was MY lemon. Ash's lemon is a KIA...; )

Blidningly funny and masterfully written 555

A four on pacing? Someone must be new here. Never heard the original before so thanks for the link. Awesome job as always; the Pacino line was my fave.
Melhi - June 08, 2005 - Report this comment
Too funny, Spaff! (Unless this is a true story, in which case, um... sorry for all the laughter at your expense.) Oh and ditto on everything Claude said, too. :)

I also don't know the original song, spaff, but it reads well, with your usual witty wordplay, and I loved the narrative aspect of it, and your usual barbed references like Hilton and von Trapp - 555 (of course)

Thanks for the link, hadn't heard this song before. Terriffic pacing...that 4 must be a ty-po :-)....or else the guy that stole your Ge-o.All in all, just another 5 star, run-of-the-mill, outlandishly great effort. Keep 'em coming.

Sorry 'bout the DKTOS. It's easy to KTOS when someone gives you a link to it. DUH! Love the OS, Spaff, thanks for opening my ears to it. Still lost on some of your references here though. Is enlightenment forthcoming?

Wow, how very cool for so many of you to stop by despite not knowing the original. Kristof will probably blackmail me for saying this, but "Somewhere..." is one of my favorite pop songs of the past year, despite some of its precious back-to-nature lyrics. (Hence the parody.) Thanks for all your comments.

Local Celeb: Cool - thanks for pointing out that Paris/Keane connection. I woulda missed it. I think I've exhausted all my Geo rhymes, but I'll still do that Footloose parody for you one of these days.

Leo: (Leo! Well, THERE's another Geo rhyme.) The caps in this one are nothing more than a GUIDE to the ME-ter. (Are they distracting?) But thanks for wondering if I'm smarter than I appear.

Ricksy: Here are your footnotes:
"Spin...von Trapp" = The Sound of Music
"Simple...Hilton" = Paris's TV show
"This is the place" = Brigham Young's opinion of Salt Lake
"Figures...Viggo" = Lord of the Rings action figures
"Close...Pacino" = Scent of a Woman
Any others I can help out with? It's supposed to be a straightforward tale, not some sort of elaborate in-joke, but I've been told that sometimes I get too Dennis Miller-y. Sorry.

Thanx for the suggestion, Local Celeb. I recently had that song going through my head and had to ask the denizens of the messageboard to identify it for me. I'd like to see YOUR ideas for it.

Very Good. Keane are a pain in the arse whining group of twats....they should sing this at least it's about something real (getting your Geo nicked) and not pretentious claptrap
Spaff.com - August 18, 2007 - Report this comment
Thanks, Joe. Coincidentally, I had a girlfriend who called me a pretentious clap trap.
