The Lyrics

More faves from the animation vault.
Boop,
Throws me for a loop
While singing oop a doop
Goodness, see her animate her rear

Hear her squeaky little quips
From her tiny, pouty lips
The scripts
They’re animation

Gold
Those oldies rock my soul
The new ones leave me cold
They’re such a poor imitation

Wry and sly,
I can’t lie
They’re tasty just like apple pie
Oh my
Animation

A mouse
Who lives inside a house
With Minnie as his spouse
Product of a crisp, creative mind

Although the plots have holes
Don’t sweat, it’s not their goal
The goal is
Animation

Machine
Rolling to the scene
Find out what it means while
Ghosts begin levitation

Scooby Doo
And Shaggy flee
I swear they’re smokin’ wacky weed
So free
Animation

(bridge)
Now
The anime just give me blues
See their lips will barely move
I believe they’re pooh.

A knoll
Hunter on patrol
Rabbit takes a stroll by
Anvil flies, devastation

Our surprise
He won’t die
Our Elmer’s such a rugged guy
No lie
Animation

Whoa! The disgusting decline in the quality of animation from the early Disney days to today has been a sore spot here for ages. You nailed it all with "their lips will barely move" -- re-using the same cels over and over, with just a lip change.

IIUC, for a while (80s?) the answer was to out-source to less-costly Japanese studios, but now, it's just "use the same background, and change as little as possible." Just like this first Five doesn't change much though the second and third Fives. Sorry more peeps aren't reading/voting/commenting. Sharp commentary.

I agree with The Turtle... but doncha kinda like South Park anyway!? (if unfamiliar, its got the worst animation ever--nicely counterbalancing, IMO, the cleverest commentary out there.)

I'm familiar enough with SP to be aware of the gawd-awful alleged "animation" -- more like successive panels of a cartoon -- but believe it or not, even TT has his limits, and -- not a SP fan. Never watched a single episode all the way through. YMMV, and obviously, does :)

Echo TT's comments... It's a testament to their quality that so many of those older cartoons (and animated features) are still around-- and still entertaining. We'll see if the same can be said of Anime in a few decades. I doubt it.

Thanks, TT, TJC, and FG for the comments and discussion. Like TT, I tried Southpark, but after awhile, foul mouthed kids get a little old. But the odd animation does suit the show. And I wonder just like FG if we'll be lamenting the classics of anime 20 years from now.
