This song is not a diss on Taylor Swift. I don’t like her music and don’t respect her singing ability; but I do respect her songwriting ability. However, when she wrote “Dear John,” as a John Mayer fan, I saw it as a sort of slap in the face for John Mayer and his fans. Therefore, I wrote this song in defense of John Mayer not as disrespect to Taylor Swift.
