The Lyrics

OK, so I'm still the only person here who knows who The Antipoet are, but if you're interested, you can see the OS here - the title track to their second CD (which you can buy here, well worth the money).
I've parodied songs by the Beatles
And I've plagiarised tunes by T-Rex
I've lifted some Gilbert and Sullivan
And others I last heard in Shrek
I've snaffled the songs of Bon Jovi
I've pinched from the poems of Poe
And I've dusted off Dusty Springfield
Been light-fingered with ELO

I've done Erics Clapton and Idle
(The latter said it was not bad)
Eminem's long songs
And Flanders and Swann-songs
And I've even de-lyric'd my dad
I've been waiding the Wombles and Muppets
I've pilfered the Pinkest of Floyds
I've purloined the patter of Poison
And many more one can't avoid

I've done Kings of Leon and Dio, and Dion
While hoping that they do not know it
I've expropriated what I've loved and I've hated
But I'd much rather be ripping off poets

I'm frequently pinchin' the tunes of Tim Minchin
And although I don't mean to crow, it
Was really a super song swiped off Alice Cooper
But I'd rather be ripping off poets
It's more fun to be ripping off poets
There's more words when you're ripping off poets
Like this - ripping off Antipoets

Well heck, I'd give ya a 5 just for mentioning T-Rex, but this was really good. Especially liked Pinkest of Floyds and dusting Dusty.

I've ripped off poets before. I've done a Robert Frost parody. Ripping off poets is actually a lot of fun but you've ripped off poets before too. Didn't you do a Dr. Seuss parody?

:-) Thanks all..
Welcome back, M&P.. Pippin - The Antipoet are fantastic, regular gigging partners of mine (I often borrow the bass player, Ian "Sir Gigalot" Newman to perform parodies of their poems)

Matthias - yes, I've done plenty of poets, as well as Dr Seuss there's Elizabeth Barratt Browning, Edgar Allen Poe, A. A. Milne, Rupert Brooke, TS Eliot.. and Shakespeare, of course :-) - security code is "2XS" which may be accurate.
