Song Parodies -> "Shorn Fleece"

Original Song Title:

"Born Free"

Original Performer:

Andy Willilams

Parody Song Title:

"Shorn Fleece"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Shorn fleece—that fleece must be winnowed;
the fleece that's for spin grown.
Spun fleece from the spinner’s art.

Spin fleece until yarn will ensue;
then sweaters will accrue;
wearers will look smart.

Make fleece into great haute couture.
Then don the results with pride,
and wear them outside.

Shorn fleece becomes yarn filaments
Then knit these filaments
that were shorn fleece.

Then don the results with pride;
don’t linger inside.

Shorn fleece won’t become lingerie;
you will not linen see
come from shorn fleece.

Never understood the true life and death drama of herding and shearing sheep before I saw this. Really helps me to connect to my Australian shepherd ancestors who emigrated to this grest land of ours in the 1870's. Good on ya, JAB.
