Original Song Title:

"I Feel Fine"

Original Performer:

Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"99 (Intro)"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

The explanation. On 10/18, Johnny D challenged me to write 99 parodies in one session (the session being about 3.5 days). I'd responded to a couple of challenges he'd issued earlier, and I took him up on this one. Because of time constraints, I didn't check to see if anyone else had written parodies with the same titles as any of these. If that's happened, my apologies; it was unintentional. Thanks to Chucky for accommodating this. . .er, project. This represents the last numerical challenge I'll ever accept.
JD said, "Why don't you go
Write a whole slew? You can, you know.
He said so.

He challenged me to write 99.

JD, two past times, you know
Had drawn a challenge line, you know.
I did go
For it, but this will be the last time.

I'm so sad that I entered this world;
I'll be glad, when 99's unfurled.

And now JB does this thing, you know--
Thought it would be a fling, you know.
His head's so

Sore, but he swore he'd make 99.

I was mad to enter in this world.
Rubber-padded room's where I'll be hurled.

And now JB is unhinged, you know.
He does third-person thing, you know.
I/he said so.

I/he challenged me/him to write 99.

totally unbelievable - there's really a team of you, or a small town by the name of John A. Barry, isn't there!

and smart move with the "this is the last time" - because JD's numerical challenges had a frighteningly exponential curve to them

from someone who's yet to post his 99th parody ever to someone who overtook my efforts in three days, I am not worthy! - and neither are these 5s (!) - oh, and supercongrats on the 1000 (which one was that?)

5s again --- my "challenges" were always intended as nothing more than good-natured jokes --- but JB has always called my joke-bluff in magnificent style!

And ditto Stuart's congratulations on your blasting past the 1000-posted-parodies-mark, JB!

I challenge you (un-numerically) to withdraw your last intro comment about not doing any more challenges (numerical) - wrap your mind around that one JAB

because you're only 418 parodies off overtaking position #1 on the author's list!

so what say....(let's see now - it can't be too preposterous - gotta try to reel him in slowly)......by next Tues...no, Wednesday! (and best wishes to your wife ;-))

Yee-haw, stuart, LOL LOL LOL !!!!! I am literally laughing out loud, physically, reading your "challenge" !! Hey, JB, I agree with Stuey-Poo here --- WE CHALLENGE YOU TO CRANK OUT HOWEVER MANY PARODIES IT TAKES TO OVERTAKE MALCOLM HIGGINS !! Four-Hundred-Eighteen new parodies, no problem for YOU, JB --- maybe 418 variations on "Sugar, Sugar" ! Hee hee HEE !!! ;-) "One-r, One-r" ... "Two-er, Two-er" .... "Four-Hundred-Eighteen-er, Four-Hundred-Eighteen-er" (DAMN THE PACING, FULL SPEED AHEAD!!)

Thanks, Stuart, JD. I'll do it! Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I might be up for another Achithon sometime, though.

my in-studio expert commentator/psychiatrist is pointing out that you used 12-13 more exclamation marks than you needed to after the word 'kidding' JB - which is a sure sign of denial - ie. your inner self wants to but your outer self is saying no - and we know who always wins those battles, JB....hmmm?

Excellent, my young apprentice Darth McArthur, excellent...it is John Barry-Walker's destiny to surrender to THE POWER OF THE DORK SIDE, heh heh heh...HEH HEH HEH...MWUAH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!

Holy cow, JB... do you have a life (or maybe a Tardis)? I did a bit of calculation, and worked out that it might be possible to write 100 parodies in 3-4 days, providing that a) there was nothing else on, and mainly b) there was someone else to supply the food... Helluva job, though. As one egomaniac once said to another: "Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability..."

Last numerical challenge huh? Okay, how about this challenge: Your current record for number of parodies to the same OS is 10 in one day to The Archies "Sugar, Sugar", AmIRight? Try to beat that record in fantastic style (i.e. massive overkill). 24 hours to make and post as many parodies to the same OS as possible. Ball in your court. ;-)
John Barry - October 23, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks, Phil. Three things became apparent to me: it's easier to parody well-written OSes than the contrary. Jaunty OSes tend to be fairly easy. Once I got an a roll, they rolled out fairly quickly--kind of a slow start, though. Red Ant, not any time soon, but maybe after a breather, thanks.

And to think my parody of (half of) 'The Raven' almost put me in the looney bin. I would never submit myself to such an overload. BTW, it took me the same amount of time to write that one parody as it took JAB to write 100...
