The Lyrics

I'm not exactly a fan of the Pope, but even I raised a quizzical eyebrow on hearing that he'd been quoting some former pope who'd said that all that the prophet Mohammed had brought were evil and violence... so (unlike the tens of thousands of Muslims seen demonstrating, burning effigies, etc) I decided to find out exactly what he had said. Turns out the old "insult to Islam" grapevine has been distorting the message. Again.

I hope any sane, rational Muslim reading this will take it in the spirit in which it is written: not as an attack on Islam, but poking fun at the sort of person who goes over the top protesting about a perceived insult or injustice without even taking the time to find out whether any such insult has actually happened.

We're the Muslim rent-a-mob, we're on TV
We're burning an effigy
We're the Muslim rant-a-mob, oh, can't you see
Us protesting endlessly

You slag off Islam - we go berserk
Reaction is instinctive we are just
A bunch of knee-jerks
We're the Muslim rent-a-mob, in case you'd not guessed:
We hate the West

We never stop to think about the things that we hate
Our utter lack of tolerance - you'll have to tolerate

We're the Muslim rent-a-mob, such uncivilized goons
We don't like cartoons
We're the Muslim rent-a-mob, and we also hate the Pope
Listen to him? Not a hope.
We're paranoid and credulous, and easily taken in
Don't diss our prophet, Muhammed (Peace be upon him)
We're the Muslim rent-a-mob, here's what we do:
What Imams tell us to

[Switching to Al Jolson mode:]
I'd burn American flags
For that guy in drag
My Imaaaaamy

I'm ashamed to say DKTOS so I won't rate it, but lots of funny (and alas, true) lines here. 5's for funny!
