The Lyrics

The Fed meets next week.
Greenspan

One percent, Greenspan,
Keep it at one.
Silicon Valley
Has all but come undone.
Don't let the rate rise
So that it goes above
That magic number—
The one we've come to love.
We'd dive for cover if
It rose, Greenspan.

Greenspan, you're on now—
Don't make us glum.
There's peaks and valleys
On charts where you do sums.
Now you can trade wind
With Congress counterparts.
After you blather,
Apply your fiscal arts.

If it's up, Greenspan,
Folks can't finance homes.

Don't ever blow what
Made stocks run this way.
Think how many urchins
Will have no place to stay.

We only hope that
This economy
Don't suddenly slide toward
Inflationary.

We know that this rates gives
Us a high return.
We know that your pate gives
Off reflections that burn.
We won't be happy
When we go for a loan.
Don't let NASDAQ see
17 or below.
Prone to you, Greenspan,
Are we, once again.

John, when I was a kid we had an album of this Brothers Four song--bet not many know it, but it was a great song, and so is your parody.
