The Lyrics

Yes, you too can trade in you 2 year old gas guzzling clunker for a new box on wheels! Hurry! Supplies are limited and selection of toasters on wheels are going fast... if they weren't so slow on the road. Comes in bagel and regular bread models.
Is your car broken, a gas guzzlin’ hoe
Well, trade in clunker, before we run out of dough
You know, ya gas mil’age is crummy
And soon it just won’t go

Well, think about it, the earth don’t like your car
We’ll give you forty-five hundred, for your junker car
If you want a brand new hummer
That’ll get you twice as far

Oh, hurry up boy

Well, hurry up buyer, before the Senate’s down
Well, now, hurry up, buyer, before it gets voted down
Or you can drive around that clunker
But you’ll be an evil clown

Perfect "current event" parody, and well done, unlike the clunker... $555.00 for trade in value

They want $2 billion more, but refuse to release the stats on where the first billion went (the majority bought Honda, Toyota, or Hundai), what the change in mgp or emissions was, etc... It just keeps getting stupider and stupder. If only there were a way to turn idiocy into energy...

I think they misnamed the program - I had an old VW bug that was a clunker but got excellent gas milage. They should have named it cash for guzzlers - guzzlers is what we want off the roads. Decent write - here's $5.00 for gas and since you got a Smart you should be able to drive 3/4 the way across Texas on the 5 spot.

(Artistry) If we keep our clunkers they're gonna make us dress up as bad bozos? Great topical idea, if this keeps going we'll all be driving Fred Flintstone cars soon.

That line was written about the same time I saw some news reports of the Obama picture made up to look like Joker. Thus, evil clown. :)

My truck barely meets the year guidelines for Cash for Clunkers (it's an '84), and it gets single-digit gas mileage, but I love it too much to let the government destroy it, and I also have over $2,000 in tires, wheels, stereo and recent repair work into it- about $1,500 more than it is worth. Excellent job on the parody, and 5s for you.

(ART) - This parody is NOT a cluncker at all!!
Agrimorfee - August 20, 2009 - Report this comment
Not a bad one, but like the clunkers themselves (and the CFC program) the memory of this won't last long.

I kinda agree with Agrimorfee it's not exactly a monumental parody, but it was still a pretty great timely peice although a little short.

(Artistry) Same as what Agri said, but unfortunately I don't think Aussie is going through the same thing. Mainly because I have no idea what a 'clunker' is. But then I don't know anything about cars outside which ones turn into giant robots...ahem.

Good jump on a current news item. Nice matching of a short song to a short-lived program.

(Artistry) I do think that it was cool to do a parody on the Cash for Clunkers program, but one real quick fact. . .Hummers would NOT qualify for the new purchase in the clunkers program. I don't know Medemia, this OS didn't really let you expand on your idea, and personally as a result I think it stifled your resulting parody. . .just didn't really get any big laughs. . .sorry buddy. . .I can't hold it totally against you, because the original song is what it is, but some songs are harder to parody than they look
