The Lyrics

Another Stephen Stills penned song parodied here. Honest, Stephen, if you're out there, I'm not picking on you. Like your stuff. Besides, I'm submitting a Nash parody later today. About getting old. Well, sometimes it's no fun, especially if you're not healthy. Be happy if you are ok 'cause not everybody is.
49 geezers all in a line.
all of us old ones...
all of us dying.
Driftin' on my pain pills
I take more than 10.
Some of them don't work, and I'm wearing Depends.
Medicare, pay my share.
When the Doctor comes, I'll get numb.
Let Uncle Sam pay the man.
I want to know, where'd that Doctor go?
I'm in desperate need.
Nobody here to feed me.

It's near over, I've lost all my spring.
Here comes the Doctor looking for tumors and things.
Medicare, pay my share.
When the Doctor comes, I'll get numb.
Let Uncle Sam pay the man.
I want to know, where'd that Doctor go?
I'm in desperate need.
Nobody here to feed me.
They won't heed me.
I'm not strong,
Almost gone. (oy-yoy-yoy-yoy-yoy-yoy)

Hiya, lady (hiya, lady)
Wipe, if you wouldn't mind, maybe.
Do I know you? (do I know you?)
Go, if you've got something to do.
Hey, but it ain't fun, lady
When your memory's gone
Been here too long, I'm crazy.
And I'm trapped, lady
'cause I can't even take a crap, lady.
Guess I'll try and just take a nap now, maybe.
Please bathe me now, lady.
I wanna tell you, lady.
Yes, I will tell you, lady
Don't you get, don't you get old.
I can't stand this.
When I sit here in my piss.
Hiya, lady (Hiya, hiya, lady)
Wipe, if you wouldn't mind, maybe.
Because it ain't fun, lady.
Now my mind is gone, if I'm not wrong, I'm crazy.
Gonna cry, lady, 'cause I don't know just where I'm at, lady.
And I think I just took a crap now, maybe.
Please bathe me now, lady.
I wanna tell you, lady
Yes, I will tell you lady.
Don't you get, don't you get old.

Well done, Paul. Your last line contains some good advice, but I think most of us are going to ignore it.

Thanks all. JD - posting another CSN parody this morning - and, yes...ARRRRGGGHHH! It be a PIRATE parody, aye...HAR! JJ - yes, I did some math the other day and figured out that on April 1st, 2005, my next birthday, my two options are to be 55 years old or deceased. There are no other chronological choices. I am hoping for the "55" at this point...and hey, I'll mention here that I feel better and happier than I did at many earlier stages of my life. Among other things I just found out my "Temporary job" (which is fun, challenging, pays decently and I enjoy quite a bit) has become "Full-year" and the company is adding a Retirement Benefits Plan as well. I remember how shattered and disillusioned I was at the loss of my prior one - I was there six years and thought it was pretty secure (silly, huh?)...it was quite scary and unsettling at 53 to have that happen - you really don't know if you will be able to find anything decent that you will enjoy again...not a pleasant prospect. But I have managed to land on my feet and have developed a different mind-set - going to follow some of my own advice (drawn from the advice of others) and "Lose those fears". So I am eagerly looking forward to whatever awaits me down the road...however long or short that may be...

That's kind of sad, Paul... makes me want to quote the Rolling Stones, and hope I die 'fore I get old. Sigh.
Paul Robinson - March 15, 2005 - Report this comment
Phil, wasn't that "The Who"?? Or were you making a double-reference there?
Stuart McArthur - March 17, 2005 - Report this comment
(123) gee I can just hear David Crosby singing this!
Paul Robinson - March 19, 2005 - Report this comment
Me too, Stu...you know. I bought a 3 DVD set of CSN stuff around Christmas and finally got around to watching the last one a couple weeks ago...Crosby was SO out of it...I don't know if he was just out of rehab or just about ready to check into it, but he was hardly even present...the other two were singing parts that should have been his or trying to make up for his lack of presence by being more energetic themselves...Nash especially...Crosby was absolutely feeble most of the concert and it was quite sad to watch...in the beginning I just he was wasted and I laughed about him being so out of it...but it wasn't funny after I realized it had to be more...fortunately, on the other CD's, including one from 10 or more years later, he was back in the game again and very much a presence in the performance...anyway...thanks for stopping in...
