Song Parodies -> "Pun Away"

Original Song Title:

"Runaway"

Original Performer:

Del Shannon

Parody Song Title:

"Pun Away"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Tier: animal; plural: Tiere. Schwein: pig
As I mock a song,
I wonder if it's too long;
It's one of once-hot-Don, now long gone.
As I still mock on
I think of ill-conceived puns--
"Pie"-R-squared. . .circumf'rence, not of buns.

I'm a-mocking song 'bout reigns:
"Tiers are fallin'". . ."Ouch!" spouse squeals in pain.
But I see orthography
Merged with homophony
Makes a punster,
A pu-pu-pu-pu-punster.
Spy "pi," eyed; I try "pie," in pan displayed.
"Track meat that runs, sirs"--
The wurst I've made,
But still I pun away,
Pun, pun, pun, pun, away.

[What's-better-than-one-rose-on-your-piano?-Tulips-on-your-organ solo]

I'm a-mockin' song 'bout reins:
"'Tiers' are fallin'"--to the Deutsch domain
I veer. "The orthography's
Merde!" Wit--hon mocks foxed me.
"Ewe have blundered,
Blu-blu-blu-blu-blundered.
Try 'Tiere,' Schwein, won't fly,
Your pun display."
Track meet* takes hon, purrs
A curse: "Aweigh!
Ship shitshape pun away,
Pun, pun, pun, pun, pun away!
Pun's dung, dumb, chum"; hon's bummed. "Oy vey!
Fun's done, hon, shun, puns. Run away."

You've taught me to appreciate (and never fear) orthographic homophones! Punny to the max!

lots of gems but "Tulips-on-your-organ" took the prize - be sure to know that I'll be plagiarising that one in the future, JAB - 555

Does this mean we have to start calling you Attila the Pun? And Johnny D is gonna kick himself for not thinking of "tulips on your organ." Which makes me want to write a parody of "Lipstick On Your Collar."
