"Flyer" has been turned into a verb (both transitive and intransitive - if you're handing out flyers, you can be said not just to be "flyering", but also "flyering somewhere or someone"; It's not in the OED yet, though that'll change when a comedian or someone who runs comedy gigs signs up as editor :-)
Sorry to disagree Phil, but I was a flyer distributor in the 1970s as a kid working for PepsiCo. A flyer is usually a single sheet marketing tool, a leaflet being a more high quality and graphic version. A brochure or pamphlet is any unbound book designed to market products and services, announce meetings or promote political or religious ideas, etc... and Flier (Winger) originated literally from early airdropped printed announcements!!! Germans called early leaflet bombing blotting and each line of drops as an ink stream. FYI
You're not really disagreeing, Rob: back in the 70s, it's quite possible that "to flyer" as a verb hadn't been coined; but it definitely has now, especially on today's comedy circuit. "Flyerer" as the noun for a person who's flyering doesn't get used by and large, I'm just trying to get in ahead of the game. Oddly enough, I don't think anyone complained that "transvestittiliation" wasn't a word when I wrote a parody with that as the title... is there anything wrong with coining a neologism as a way of adding a little humour to the world?
Nothing has changed here, Phil. Americans usually spell Flyer as Flier and although flyer can be used as a verb, no noun found in a dictionary. A person handing out fliers is still a distributor. Flyer is more commonly used here as a substitute for air traveler as in "frequent flyer" or as earlier term for pilot who was in an open cockpit sporting gloves and goggles!!! Flyerer here would be considered bad English like a young kid still saying pasghetti instead of spaghetti or aminal instead of animal. But of course, UK and Euro usage may be completely different.
Have you seen your score Phil? As of 11:20 Pacific Standard Time (Eight hours behind your time) the scores were two in ever category from 1.0 to 5.0. I think it's someone's idea of a joke
Bigger question is why Callmelennie is stalking your parody? That's creepy. He has also made a statement on a Barney parody, pointing out numbers. What's up with this guy? Not getting enough attention? Not able to write his own parodies? This is just weird to read in the latest comments section.
