"An Imp Tossable"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

A small ode to that enlightened pastime of the 1980s: dwarf tossing.
An imp tossable can be heaved up pretty high,
He's an imp tossable.
An imp tossable can sail through the air—nearly fly,
He's an imp tossable
He stands no more than three-foot-three
He's crowing, "Bet you can't throw me!"
He's thrown the ganletette right down at your shoe,
That bold imp tossable.

Upward motion picks him right up off the floor—
Grab that imp tossable.
Get his gloves on; make sure his helmet's secure,
Pad that imp tossable.
Check his kneepads before you give him a hurl.
He will be glad when he hits that hardwood floor.
He'll regret it if he doesn't have his gloves,
Will that imp tossable.

Sideways motion—he's parallel to the floor
Is that imp tossable.
Once I misjudged and threw him right out the door,
Where's that imp tossable?
I felt sorrow, but my throw set a new world
Record; meanwhile, he slid through an open manhole.
I think to myself as I stare down from above:
He's now gimp tossable.
Hope his limp's lossable.

Wasn't Perry Como the one who had the big hit with this?
John Barry - September 24, 2004 - Report this comment
norman, you're right--thanks. Elvis must have covered it.

Yes, you're right--Elvis did cover it. He covered a lot of songs that were huge hits for other people, but, did a good job of them, as he always did. He could sing any type of music.

Whaddayasay, time for a Perry Como parody fest? What were some of his hits?
norman the k - September 24, 2004 - Report this comment
Most of his hits were a little before my time, but I'm sure some names would come to me if I saw/heard them. I tried to check for a website and found one, but when I tried to look at the discography, it said I was not authorized to view that page! Maybe you'd have better luck than I did. I'm sure there's something on the internet that lists his hits.

I have no idea why this didn't get more votes. It is the height of parody humor! Have a few more 5s, John.
