Parody Song Title:

"Love Old Tenders"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Love old tenders
On the track,
Locomotives, coal
Wish the world
Would bring 'em back
Those old trains had soul

Love old tenders
Swirling smoke
Trailing for a mile..
Giving land
A long gray cloak
Poll-ution - worthwhile

Of old freight trains
I would dream
As a young lad might
Loved their mournful
Cries of steam
Sounding in the night

Those old tenders
Rattled through
Prairies of the west
Diesel's now
Are fast and new,
But old trains were best

Progress, high tech
Rules the day
Missing one fine part..
Modern trains
Just streak away
Steam engines had heart

Modern trains
Just streak away
Steam engines had heart

Nicely nostalgic. I watched about fifteen westerns this weekend so I've had steam trains on the brain.

Shiver your timbers, Sir L'air deFarce, on this fine St Joseph's Day!

Reminds me of the reminiscing and melancholy of Robyn Hitchcock's "I Often Dream of Trains" (don't worry, no one's ever of him, but he's a personal favorite artist). Elegantly phrased and easygoing. A pleasant ride.

Yes! Someone had to play about "tender". Now waiting for a ballad "from the Steam Loco to its Tender".
