The Lyrics

The deficit-reduction negotiators, staying in Washington DC through the July 4 holiday week under presidential pressure to complete action by July 22 so that the debt ceiling can be raised by August 2, are worlds apart on the roles of spending cuts and tax increases. Although TOS asserted that true love can overcome cultural and racial taboos, one wonders what can heal such strong political and fiscal disagreements. My parody might be sung by a member of the Republican team.
Two diff'rent worlds
Won't give in to stiff-bent churls.
Obama scolds
That a government should never be

So far apart;
He says we're so hard to start,
And that he can't let the Right
Wing change his destiny.

When will we learn
That it's smart not to draw a line?
Far wings chatter as Dems draw theirs,
And I draw mine.

New deficits
Will give the Tea Party fits;
But we will show Dems,
As we talk while tethered 'neath O's gun, [1]
That their shrewd shifty whirls [2] are done.

New revenues
Will give those smooth grifters dues,
But they will blow them
As they balk at whether they should run [3]
Straight o'er huge cliff meant for The One.
[1] This is a metaphor, of course; he's agin them.
[2] This refers to faux spending cuts, as found in another recent agreement.
[3] Those who do might be called "demmings" after 2012's election.

I thought the Chinese set the limit to how much we could borrow. When an individual is borrowing money from one creditor to pay off another, that's called bankruptcy.

Well written and even poetic in places. Though the line you spoke of has been drawn by Republican and Democrat alike (posturing methinks), so not much new here. And there are grifters aplenty in both parties, whether it's corporate welfare or bloated agencies.
