"Blame Obama's Glossing Over"

The Lyrics

The US President said on May 14 that the circular finger-pointing at a Congressional hearing among three CEOs involved in the Gulf of Mexico oil drilling accident was a spectacle that he could not tolerate further. He also mildly chastized government oversight agencies for not doing their jobs well enough before the fact. Perhaps his emphasis was not fair and balanced, as hinted in my parody of TOS.
I was on that rig when the mud let fly,
Standin' with the men lookin' glad to cry. [1]
It began to shake, swayin' to and fro,
And soon I knew that it would surely blow.

Blame it on failed loss preventer for this tragic spill.
Blame it on no backup cover (should be slid on drill).
Oh, it all began with just one little chance,
But then it started up Obama's rants.
Blame it on his glossing over
The "can't"s of gov. [2]

Now was it Bee-Pee?
O. yoked to cost run-over.
Or Trans-oh-she-an?
Those known rig operators.
Now Hal-li-bur-ton?
Yeah, yeah, once bossed by Cheney,
The pants of gov. [3]

Now it's sad to say we've dissed wide blue sea,
And we can't erase this tragedy;
And when our kids ask how it came to spout,
I'm gonna say to them there's still much doubt.

Blame it on the fossil fu-els that we have to sell.
Blame it on the tossing ocean where those platforms dwell.
Oh, it all began with just one little breach,
But then oil ended up on ev'ry beach.
Blame it on his glossing over
The grants of gov. [4]

Now was it monsoon?
No, none was lost in Rita. [or Katrina]
Or the tars above? [5]
No, not the roustabout hands.
Whom can we impugn?
Yeah, yeah, he's glossing over
The stance of gov. [6]

[1] The 115 who survived to mourn the 11 who perished.
[2] Regulations enforced by Minerals Management Service & Environmental Protection Agency.
[3] Miss him yet?
[4] Permits issued by government agencies.
[5] Colloquial term for sailors or navy seamen.
[6] Recent expansion of offshore exploration areas (back on hold), lax oversight.

Oh the blames people say now...etc! Imagine how much worse things would be if they hadn't been on it "since Day One". Great job, Sly! ;D

Or how much worse things would be if Bush was still president.

OMR: Thanks; notice I've been graduated into your class of Unobomber targets!
Insider: Oilman Bush would have understood the problems, been there much sooner ... and to Nashville too!

Always well-crafted, Mr. Mitchel. And, dare I say, pretty "slick" as well? :) 555!

Fg: Thanks, possibly "slick" but certainly "glossy"; and maybe more below than on the surface.
