The Lyrics

For all of us, old enough to have watched the TV show, "Father Knows Best"...this is a tribute to Jane Wyatt, who played the mother on that show, and recently, passed on at the age of ninety six...
Jane, Jane, tho' you are gone
Memories of you, remain
Like the snow on the lawn,
Or dewdrops at dawn
Everything must move on, Jane

Jane, Jane, with your special charm,
You turned into grand, what's plain
Three Emmys you won,
For Marg'ret Anderson
As the whole world's mother, Jane

Thru the Thirties and Forties, a great film career
You were even Spock's mother in "Star Trek", I hear
You played in "Lost Horizons"
"Great Expectations"

Jane, Jane, so sad you're gone
But, re-runs still make the scene
So, we'll treasure your zest
In "Father Knows Best"
On TV Land you're with us, Jane

We can still catch your smile,
Every once in a while,
On TV Land you're with us, Jane

Touching...I echo alvin completely... and when it came to your duty, you didn't Wyatt Shirk

Fives for a very lovely song that needed no introduction. "Amanda" was the crowning jewel of her career.

Thanks to alvin, TJC, and 2Eagle...

This tribute is well done, but the original song is from the 1969 film "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie." It was written by Rod McKuen and sung by William Oliver Swofford, better known as Oliver.

Thanks, Millard....You're right...I stand corrected, (sitting down, actually)....Pulling up the lyrics from the web, and seeing the name of "Oliver" fooled me..
