Original Song Title:

"Wichita Lineman"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Glen Campbell

Parody Song Title:

"This Right-Wing Ignoramus"

Parody Written by:

Paul Robinson

The Lyrics

Hypothetically this would be about a particular person who constantly and continually intentionally misquotes, misrepresents or distorts statements made by persons of opposing viewpoints and then has the utter gall and lack of decency to accuse THAT person of doing it to him (or her, as the hypothetical case may be). I am NOT referring to any of the many sincere, honest and thoughtful people on this site who happen to view the world through a totally different and opposed perceptual prism than I do. I respect their right to hold and espouse their viewpoints in the same manner that they respect my rights to do the same. If you don't do any of those inappropriate things I mentioned up above then this is not about you. But, as I said, this is purely hypothetical, anyway...
I am a Right-Wing ignoramus
and I post dumb comments
Trying to malign those "Liberals" that I loathe
I cannot see them as people
So I always pigeon-hole
'cause to dehumanize them
is always my goal

I pour forth phony indignation
'cause I don't use my brain
and much of what I post here is entirely inane
I resent you 'cause I'm biased
and you disagree with me
Yes, I'm Right-Wing and mindless
with the brain of a pea

(Instrumental break)

When presented with this grievance
I will write back "It's not me"
But if you've read my comments
you will disagree

(Instrumental to end)

Hypothetically well put, and well written..One of my favorite, old original songs by Glen ....have thought of doing it myself, many times..

Wonderful pacing...but...did you HAVE to insult peas?
Stuart McArthur - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
and most of the barbed comments are anonymously posted to boot - sticks in my craw - 555

Here are some nonhypothetical 5s.

fun to sing along with...5s
Phil Alexander - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
:-D ...purely hypothetically, of course

Not a bad parody, Paul. But it is my perception that there are more vicious, unsubstantiated attacks aimed at the right coming from the left than visa versa.

Can't we all just get along?

Looks like you got some hypothetical ones - another favorite tatic of ignoramuses from the left OR the right. I thought you did a great job though!

JD - I'll apologize to the peas at an appropriate moment. Stuart - Yes, hypothetically speaking, this person would probably have used a handle -- JB, and a hypothetical "Thanks" to you -- alvin, yes, I really did enjoy singing along here -- Phil, well, of COURSE (hypothetically speaking) -- JJ - well, I don't know, I'm really only to referring to a particular HYPOTHETICAL case -- Ash, I hypothetically anticipated that here - the particular hypothetical person I might have been referring to would not have a hypothetical lot to say probably...Thanks All!!
Righty - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Yep, PURELY hypothetical. Ha ha ha... SURE, Mr. Robinson, sure. At least you're not so thin-skinned that you turn off the comments on your songs, unlike at least one other not-so-hypothetical individual I could name.

Well written. Must agree it is annoying to get a pacing score of 1 because the voter doesn't agree with your point of view.

Righty - well, good to see you have a sense of humor about it. Naw, I wouldn't bother to post something I didn't want comments on. While I'm occasionally disappointed when I see comments are open on a song, it is up to the author whether or not they want to see and deal with them. Moi? Adore me or deplore me, but never ignore me...BTW, that's NOT an original line of mine...I've borrowed it to use here from Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders in the song "Complex Person" from the Pretenders "Loose Screw" album that came out about 2 years ago. An EXCELLENT album, by the way... Thanks...

Paul, nice job. (I thought that, perhaps, the title was redundant.)

Bob - Thanks!
parody critic - April 24, 2007 - Report this comment
Your parody is utterly assinine. You'd have to be an utterly, mindless, heartless, peabrain liberal to even think it has one iota of class. No substance! You know, when liberals go trippin' on the things they smoke and sniff, they think a lot of things are funny. Like wow man, here, have another toke on this thing and read this song.

Hey Parody Critic - did this hit too close to home? By the way, I'll keep smoking my pot and you keep thumping your bible, ok?
