Altho' he lived in DC, by the Capitol dome
He had twinklin' eyes, and a smile welcome warm
For his weekly guests, always stayed informed..Big Tim..
He was a newsman's man..all will agree
And tough questions he would ask, but always fair, he'd be
Politicians found out..he was hard to dodge
Seriously jounalistic.. stood for no hodge podge..

Then came that day, he was workin' at his desk
When his artery clogged, and you know the rest
Medics were summoned, all hopes prayed on
But he couldn't be revived, and doctors said he's gone..

The sad news was a shock that we all could feel
About a giant of a man who was honest and real
Many tributes poured in, Tim was very well known
Words of kind sympathy for his fam'ly was shown

He had written a book..he called, "Big Russ And Me"
About him and his dad, an autobiography
Traced his father's values, and how he made them his own
When he'd speak of his Dad, a shining pride was shown,

Just had fifty-eight birthdays, not near enough
For a man who wore a good heart on his cuff
In these times of try and harsh politics
All of the players in the game laid down their sticks, for Tim
