Song Parodies -> "She Was Karen Carpenter"

Original Song Title:

"If I Were A Carpenter"

Original Performer:

Johnny Cash

Parody Song Title:

"She Was Karen Carpenter"

Parody Written by:

Airfarcewon

The Lyrics

She was Karen Carpenter
And she was a lady
But, she had anorexia
At one time weighed, eighty

Was a vocalist by trade
And very famous
Golden were the hits she made
Oh, but then she left us

What began as dieting
Soon turned into sorrow
On many days wouldn't eat a thing
Said, "I'll eat tomorrow."

She collapsed, a weak thin girl
At a Vegas show time
Sang the song, "Top of The World"
Was for her, a low time

She was a great singer
Such a sweet voice, splendid
But, she saw her image wrong
And her life was ended

She was Karen Carpenter
And she was a lady
Her young death saved many girls
From such problems, weighty

Her young death saved many girls
From their problems, weighty

For me, "funny" in this sense means "thoughtful, sensitive". A very sad loss and it did save many girls. 5's

say, they have a new karen carpenter's greatest hits record coming out...her picture is on the spine...she had a beautiful warm voice, too bad she sang so many schmaltzy songs...i visited her crypt until she moved....yes, that's right...went from cypress CA about 60 miles down the road to westlake village CA...to a cemetery she shares with, among others, harry nilsson and ron goldman..oh yeah...5s

As Alvin noted, nice voice, bad material. Nice tribute. 5s. Michael's Spanish note: This parody isn't thin.

And someone said my parody "Katrina" was sick! The only thing sicker was the joke during the Ethiopian famine:

Q: Who is the patron saint of Ethiopia?

A: Karen Carpenter

111 (Don't freak - those are 5s on a diet!!!) Great job - hit the "nail" right on the head, so to speak. (What do carpenters use for nails? Karen.)
