Parody Song Title:

"My Favorite Kings"

Parody Written by:

Merry & Pippin

The Lyrics

Cnute on the shore when commanding the wavelettes
Richard the Lionheart boffing the knavelettes
With Sundiata that Timbuktu swings
These are a few of my favorite kings

Richard the Third with his Pached reputation
Henry the Eight with ux-decapitation
Vile Vlad that plied that impaling that stings
These were some sadly misunderstood kings

Uther Pendragon whose sword’s in the lakeses
Alfred the Great when he’s burning the cakeses
Ferd sends Columbus in search of Beijings
These are a few of my favorite kings

When the cad knights, fueled upris-ings
When Scots waved their Plaid
When faced with Pretenders most medieval kings
Often made axe reel like mad

Old Charlemagne with descent down to Arwen
Terrible Ivan that barmy old czar one
Henry Beauclerc with his numerous flings
These are a few of my favorite kings

Empress Matilda who challenged her cousin
Lady Jane Grey with a reign that just wasn’t
Childless poor Mary who took to burn-ings
These are a few that were queens and not kings

John watched the Washes make his fortune undone
Edwy the Fair thumbed his nose at great Dunstan
Hal gave St. Thomas the martyrdom things
These are a few of my favorite kings

When the tomes cite – deed sovereigns
Hist’ry’s autocrats
I muse on the mayhem of favorite Kings
And picture them all rather prats!

Outstanding. Love those catalog songs. :-)

Thanks everyone! :)

Stan, I can stumble along a bit in French, German and Spanish, but Italian is beyond me, although I get the jist of the above.

I don't know if Elvis would approve, but he's not here, and I am, and I hereby dub thee King Merry the Fifth. (Or is that Queen? Did we ever settle that? I've lost track.)

Bravo - Travisimo!!! Very original and fresh. Loved all the puns and refs which are far too many to list. Now do one on dick-tators - I'll get you started.
Chorus from Whistle While You Work...

Hitler was a jerk,
Hitler was a jerk.
Mussolini bit his weenie,
Now it doesn't work.

Now THIS is fabulous...! I can't believe you remembered my little announcement about being one of Charlemagne's distant relations! =) I mean, I like to think that everyone remembers everything that I say...but still.

Other than my own family's mention...I loved "Terrible Ivan that barmy old czar one," because I love love love the word "barmy." =) Overall excellent, Hobbits! Nicely done!

I’ve seen a lot of different spellings of King Knutr (his name in Old Norse from when he was alive) but I’ve never seen Cnute. It’s Cnut/Canute in English, Knud in Danish, Knut in Norwegian & Swedish, Knutur in Icelandic, & Canuto in Spanish. I haven’t got a clue what it is in Chinese or Arabic but I doubt that it’s any of the above. I wonder how readers had even heard of Beauclerc, Matilda & Edwy. “John watched the Washes” was a fave line. Good stuff & high fives for even knowing who some of the more obscure ones were.

Thanks for dropping by Andy. Lord knows why we spelled it Cnute - it was all so long ago...

I always liked the more obscure ones; would love to do a parody just about Edwy. :)

PS - I meant to type "I wonder how **many** readers had even heard of Beauclerc, Matilda & Edwy."
