The Lyrics
SPOKEN:
These are the times when tiresome trolls race right up to the gate,
try the course, run for the presidency.
And some experience a rally briefly, a flash in the pan,
then are no longer mentioned
In the limelight, for now, one has risen: the wrecker of a legendary company, known by its initials, HP. Looks like she’s not a Birther—
at least not from her narration.
Some pundits are saying her polls increase is due to her
performance in “debate” II.
Well, let me tell you the story of a scam named Carly,
who is having herself a day.
She took off much like a rocket, unlike Scott and Perry,
who went broke and then went away.
They will never return? Lindsey, Jindal. . . should learn
that they’ll never get a turn.
Carly tried, but feckless was her run ’gainst Boxer;
tried to buy the seat and got burned.
Carly’s handing us a line, a mendacious oration,
a deranged and vacant refrain.
How she got there, a conundrum; those polled can be fickle. . .
Carly’s now on the uptown train.
Will she, like most, be spurned? Soon enough we’ll have learned.
Poll numbers can quickly turn.
She once tried, but feckless was her run at Boxer;
she was slammed and sent away spurned.
Carly’s up in polls, the current situation;
in some she’s rated number 3.
By some she’s adored more than the mom of Chelsea,
who has baggage—as does Carly.
So her fortunes have turned; in first “debate” she’s spurned.
Early polls mean naught, we’ve learned.
She may cry as when she made a run at Boxer—
she was canned and sent away, spurned.
Carly’s lights went out ’cause her hollow narration
didn’t play; most voters saw through
her ruse, and so she’s winnowed.
They said, “Carly’s won’t grab it!” Most folks thought that she’d fade from view.
But she made a return. And at first she was spurned. . .
for now, at least, the tide’s turned.
But her ride could end should clever foes outfox ’er—
once again the worm may have turned.
At HP she dearly cost ’em, because her tenure’s a scandal;
so they fired her and sent her away.
Then the shares increased in the rule of Whitman,
who to Gov. tried to buy her way.
After HP she burned, she thought she could return,
but her fate was to be spurned.
Nearly five years passed since her defeat by Boxer.
Then like Lazarus, she returned;
once an asterisk, she’s returned.
Adieu, Carly?
