The Lyrics

Lift up your head, Tom Drooley,
Don't slobber on your sleeve..
It's closin' time, Tom Drooley,
Suck up your beer and leave..

You came in here half sober,
That's fourteen beers you've drunk
Now happy hours over,
This place is not your bunk!

Lift up your head, Tom Drooley,
Don't slobber on your sleeve,
It's closin' time, Tom Drooley,
Suck up your beer and leave!

Your wife called 'bout eight thirty,
I said the line real clear..
She came and picked your car up,
Sez, "Can't drive if he ain't here!"

Lift up your head, Tom Drooley,
Don't slobber on your sleeve,
It's closin' time, Tom Drooley,
Suck up your beer and leave!

You said you had no money,
I put it on your tab
Customer found your wallet,
Here's five to pay the cab...

Lift up your head, Tom Drooley,
Don't slobber on your sleeve
It's closin' time, Tom Drooley,
Suck up your beer and leave!

What is it about "fourteen beers"? I used it as a knock on Britney Spears in "J-Lo Again, Naturally," and I've used it again tonight for "A Little Bit of Juice," now this! Is "fourteen beers" really funnier than "fifteen beers"? (Yes, especially if the 15th is the one that makes somebody throw up and you're the one who has to clean it up!)

Really funny one. :D

Thanks, Adagio, and Michael, ....That's interesting about 14....don't know why I picked it...comparing it lyrically, with fifteen..14 sings better...But I have heard comics say that certain numbers are funnier than others...could be, but who knows?

AFW - on Roseanne, there was an episode where her sister spent all afternoon cooking up an intricate gourmet meal for her and husband Dan. Roseanne said "we were so hungry we scoffed it in 9 seconds"

later, on a special about Roseanne, she said they tried every single-digit number for that line, and nine worked out to be the funniest. She's right too - try them all

Thanks, Stuart...I guess you're right...numbers are mysterious..
