The Lyrics

Where did it go,
That good old Christmas spirit
We hardly ever hear it now
Frowns on each face,
No place can you get near it,
Seems to have left the world somehow
Sad, Times are sad,
Let's revive..
What the folks
Used to do...

Sweet caroling,
Music soothes like nothin' else
Hey, let's all sing
Silent Night and Jingle Bells

C'mon gang,
House to house
Snow flakes are falling lightly
We'll huddle tightly on each lawn
Make people smile
Listening from their doorway,
Hot choc'late treats, then we'll move on
Warm, we'll stay warm
In our hearts,
Blues are gone..

Sweet caroling
Came Upon A Midnight Clear,
What Child Is This,
Most Wonder-ful Time Of Year
Oh, ho, ho,

Sweet caroling
Deck The Halls, and Fa La La
Sweet caroling
Serenading Ma and Pa

Well, the kids still do go carolling around here, AFW - except now you just get a 200rpm-speed burst of "Wwshyoumrrcrssmssnhapnewyeeeeeeeeeaaarr!" and an outstretched hand. Tsk, youngsters today... 555 for your parody with it's lovely touch of nostalgia though!

I liked the wistfulness and the way you inserted the titles of popular carols.
@JB: Nostalgic? I'll be caroling on Sunday evening with my church group.
@WC: Here's a "carol" for those kids to sing and pronounce correctly:

Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose
Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose
Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose
Panda hippo gnu deer!

Carols sound much sweeter when sung in small groups (especially by children )..traveling 'round the neighborhood.......too bad that there isn't more of it.......All together now - We wish you a merry Chritmas ,we wish you a merry Christmas , we wish you a merry Christmas ....and a happy New Year !
