The Lyrics

I wanted something special to celebrate 300 parodies, so I kept back a trio that I liked for when I reached the milestone. Unfortunately, then I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I'm posting all three.
Is it worth the waiting for?
Sixty seconds, maybe more
All we ever eat's from pack-ets
As we watch the food we crave
Spinning in the microwave
While we nibble on the pack-et
There is not a crust, not a crumb we won't eat
When we're hungry, when we get the urge
'Cause there's nothing to stop us from wolfing it down
Till we all close our eyes and regurg...itate

Food, pre-packaged food!
Ready in a minute
While we're in the mood --
Just don't ask what's in it
E numbers with dodgy sauce
"What's that?" is the question
Eat quickly and it'll cause
In-di-gestion!

Food, dodgiest food!
A glutamate strudel
Don't ask as it may
Contain bits of poodle

Lumpy bits by some misteak
All swallowed unchewed
Oh, food,
Something like food,
Reprocessed food,
Pre-packaged food.

Food, it might be food!
What's there in your innards
All coming unglued
Your fresh TV dinners
What's there on the packet top?
What does it depict? You're
Pretty sure that what's there is not
Like the picture

Food, natural food!
No, we wouldn't mind it
Nice, wholesome and good
If only we could find it
On some supermarket shelves
But strangely eschewed
Is food,
So we eat "food"
Bland plastic food,
Pre-packaged food

Food, powdery food!
Not like what it ought ta
Turns to something crude
Just add boiling water
Flavourings, sugar, fat
Over-desiccated
Wondering if it's that
Carbodehydrated

Food, edible food!
It cannot be beaten
Ain't it understood
It's gonna be eaten
Let's hope all our meals from now
Will wholly exclude
Fast food,
Unwholesome food,
Disgusting food,
McDonalds food,
Microwaved food,
Potnoodle food,
Pre-packaged food

Outstanding parody, Phil. I like the "regurgi - tate" and "carbodehydrated." Congratulations on 300!

Very nice... not my favorite musical in the world, but still, more Broadway parodies are always appreciated by me ;-).

Thanks... JJ - I liked the "carbodehydrated" line, and just had to include it, even though it's a couple of syllables too long. It's easy enough to fit in when singing, though.

Cute. Brought back memories for me of listening to my mom's Original Cast Album of "Oliver" when I was a kid, scratchy vinyl on the turntable. (one could parody the whole show, maybe, with songs, like "Where Is Food?", "You Got To Eat A Pita Or Two", "Be Fat Soon" and "As Long As He Eats Meat"! ;))
