The Lyrics

Emails among scientists in the "Al Gore consensus" reveal collusion to suppress conflicting data, dissenting researchers and peer-reviewed journals. My parody of TOS imagines a current communication between a researcher and his funding source, as President Obama prepares to promise greenhouse gas reductions in Denmark on December 9.
Globe's warming's true, peer;
There's nothing more to say.
I trust that you'll steer
Research funding my way.
Hacked missives tell me
That your grand lies are through,
But I'll believe in you
Although recants ensue.

Power's nigh from sun;
We despise CO2.
Gas-fueled cars, say farewell!
So 'the boys' that I knew
Loved to conceal
Where our coverage erred,
But spies showed that Emails were shared.

Your grants we're through here;
There's nothing more to pay.
I trust you'll sue, peer;
Coping, we'll find a way.
Sure lefties tell me
That Copenhagen's crew
Soon will cap CO2
Below what plants now spew. *

"World warming's man-caused,"
With froth Al Gore could say.
Why just ten years paused? #
Slope's in declining way.
Could this false spell be --
Temps soon can climb anew?
So I'll keep voting blue
And hope your grants renew.
* I mean man-made, not natural plants. # 1998 was the warmest year. This is another Monday QB, drafted on Friday and tweaked over the weekend. I also inserted 6 new lines before TOS's final 2 to make a full stanza. Fortunately, the Senate did not vote on this topic Saturday! Unlike Earth, this scandal should keep getting hotter.

I don't know The Bard as well as OMR does; but I can write "Glad you liked it" to Phil, and also guess that this scandal really "shakes peers" involved. I could change "true" in the title and first line to "nuked." Sorry, rob, no troops home soon. Keep smokin' whatever.
