The Lyrics

After months and months of cold and dark and weary winter nights (and days) we Scandinavians tend to get a little bonkers when the first signs of spring finally arrive, hence this time of year you can here see such things as families gathering for a barbecue on the first hedgehog roadkill of the year, exhilarated kiddies jumping for joy in thawing dog poo, public transportations arriving on time more than once in a blue moon and park street flashers with wood-anemones under the foreskin instead of the warming sock over the private parts they need for the major part of the year. Well, maybe that last part is just me, but apart from that I tend to stay quite placid, unless of course you count this overwhelming urge I always have to do away with remaining neighbourhood snowmen if they have not melted away by themselves by the ides of April. Here's a song about that.

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here:

I first tried with a dead lighter in vain
Then I brought out something less mundane
And it's alight now, as long as I've gas
And I'll incite melting Jack Frost, and his cold, white ass

I've filled up my flame-thrower pack
I feel cool with it strapped right across my back
So it's all right now, as long as I've gas
And on tonight's melting Jack Frost, with a burning flash

This one's crowned with a beanie that once was red
When I'm done it'll be grey as ash instead
I laugh at the carrot there in his head
When I spray, in the flame still it'll be orange red
And it'll ignite now, an' burn in the gas
It's my spring rite, melting Jack Frost, on the backyard grass

Gone be Jack Frost - I forecast
Gone be Jack Frost - I forecast
Gone be Jack Frost - I forecast
Gone be Jack Frost - I forecast
Gone be Jack Frost - I forecast
Gone be Jack Frost - I forecast

It doesn't take the onset of Spring to make me think of you as bonkers, Peter (in the nicest way) :). I enjoyed this one.

At first I was thinking "the first line doesn't scan at all", then I realized I was trying to sing this to "Paint It Black". Go Team Brain Fart! Anyway, great parody and imagery, Peter: I could see you torching the snowmen!
