The Lyrics

Not a fan of Green Day so ............ As a person of German Irish descent, I'm always in a quandary as to how to celebrate St Patrick Day. Should I stay out all night and get drunk on green beer, or should I go to bed early so that I can wake up bright eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to invade France? ......... So this is about the war for my Kraut-Mick soul that occurs every year on St Patrick Day -- with a cheap porn reference thrown in for good measure which turns the whole parody into an incoherent mess. But enjoy it anyway!!
I see a red door and I want it painted green
Behind that portal is my fondest, wettest dream*
I see the Krauts go by dressed in their Lederhose
I have to turn my head, before my Mick half blows

I see some pints of beer and they're all tinted green
No amber for my gut, I'm buying for Maureen
I see Patrick slur his speech and quickly fade away
Like a drunken Irish, it just happens every day

Oy look inside me self and see me "toarning" green
No Deutschland uber mich, Oym "loasting" for Coleen
Maybe Oy'll be stay'n' in Cork and not have to leave this scene
There's no need for sayin' "Foak!" when your whole world is green

No more will ND jerseys be a Royal Blue
Oy did not foresee this thing happenin' to brew
If Oy gaze hard enough upon the Emerald Isle
Me German half will fade before Oy goes senile

Oy see me red door and Oy want it painted green
Inside that chamber is a redhead named Coleen
Oy see the Micks go by dressed in their Celtic clothes
Oy have to hold me gaze until me Kraut half goes

(Faith and begorrah, may the Lord's grace be with you)*
(Faith and begorrah, may the road rise to meet you)
(Faith and begorrah, may the soft rains fall for you)
(Faith and begorrah, may the winds be aft of you)
(Faith and begorrah, may the sun shine warm on you)

I wanna see me face
Painted green
Green as Eire, green as moss
I wanna see the blue
Blotted out from the sky
I wanna see me painted, painted
Painted Green .. (To be shor')

(Faith and begorrah, may the Lord's grace be with you .......)

*As advertised, the cheap porn reference; but there's a twist! Keep reading ....... *All of these Irish-ey sayings track the intonations of the "hmm-hmm-hmm-HMM-humm-hmm" chorus exactly. Try it

Irishman, Englishman and a German are caught in Saudi Arabia drinking. ”Under Saudi law you are sentenced to 30 lashes then deported. Before you begin you are entitled to something on you back, what would you like?” said the prison guard to the Englishman just before lashing him. The English man, being a bit of a cricket fan, asked for linseed oil. When they lashed him on a post and let him go to catch his flight back to London he groaned and crawled to the airport. Next came the German. ”Under Saudi law you are sentenced to 30 lashes then deported. Before you begin you are entitled to something on you back, what would you like?” said the prison guard “Nothing” said the German and, after receiving his lashes spat on the ground, called the prison guards Scheissers and started off towards the airport. The guards then came to the Irishman. ”Under Saudi law you are sentenced to 30 lashes then deported. Before you begin you are entitled to something on you back, what would you like?” “Oh” , replied the Irishman, “I'll take the German” . Btw, 555!!!

As Henry The Longshanks so succinctly put it at the Battle of Falkirk --"Irish!" .... This Irish colonization of my German half (actually 3/8ths) is only temporary, Rob. I generally get back to a kind of Kraut-Mick equilibrium by the end of the month.

"Rolling Stones" you say? Hmm...never heard of them. But through the magic of Youtube I was able to access the original song in a matter of seconds, and enjoy a parody of a song I've never even heard of before! Isn't that amazing? So I have no excuse to just ignore your hard work and can tell you that it's delightful - love the brogue (that's the word, right?) Seriously, good stuff but in case you haven't noticed this place is very reciprocal in nature so nobody really gets much attention without giving it, no matter how clever they are
CML - March 16, 2018 - Report this comment
I know what you're getting at Claude, but I never followed the music of Green Day at all. So I really cant judge how good the parodies are, or whether one parody stands out over another, or why. I'm sure they're all great. I'm sure whatever Spaff did was sensational, because everything he does is great. ..... When the band was the Beatles, I was as reciprocal as anybody because I know Beatles' tunes like the back of my hand

Hi CML, Longshanks was Edward I. Long time since our paths have crossed.

All right, well I guess I have to admit that I've been in the habit of reading parodies of songs I don't know along to the original on Youtube for so long I think I forget that not everyone does that. It's been a thing here for a long time, like way back when I ran the Song of the Month Contest, it seemed like every month there was some learning disabled teenager who didn't understand that it was primarily a feedback exchange and that all those people leaving all those nice comments had all written parodies as well, and enjoyed receiving comments as well. So a DKTOS became an unacceptable copout, and I guess I'm still in that frame of mind. That said, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to call BS on your "reciprocal as anybody" nonsense. I hate to be all scorekeepy about it, but since I'd be mortified to think I called you out mistakenly, I went back and looked at the tape. Dude. You pocketed some very nice comments from some very nice potential new friends and ignored most of theirs. And then to publicly grumble about being ignored yesterday? Not a good look. I hate to nuke the goodtime vibe like this, but it's long been a major peeve of mine when people here exhibit an attitude of entitlement. You mentioned Spaff - did you happen to notice how he not only commented on every single Beatles parody last week - including the ones who'd ignored his, then made a point to ask people to let him know if he missed any? THAT is reciprocation. Haha I been triggered bro

Oh, and it doesn't help that you're talking to a guy that spent like half an hour yesterday listening to a song called "Superhero Jagganath" by a band called "Diablo Swing Orchestra" THREE TIMES IN A ROW, just so I could appreciate the parodies written for a challenge I wasn't even participating in. Just sayin'

OK fine, Claude. So here's my response. I've basically been posting here at Amiright for the last year or so, because I've been concerned that if I dont the place was going to fold. But now that you're helping it to recover, I no longer feel the need to do anything. So, because of that outrageous little power play that you just pulled I will never post another thing at Amiright. And no need for you to respond as I'll never be clicking on this site ever again

Apologies, CML. As you can probably guess, I'm not nearly as confident in real life as I pretend to be here, and sometimes I get carried away. I wish I'd handled that differently.
Jonathan - March 17, 2018 - Report this comment
not sure what's going on, but I do hope CML was kidding! I don't read every single parody posted either, nor do I comment all the time, but his witty comments never cease to amaze me!

(Seriously, what the hell were you thinking Claude? :o :o.) This was foakin' great, CML... you put a cool personal spin on the same things I brought up in my St. Patrick's Day parody today. I hope you come back.

@ CLM: There were two different specifically themed challenges that ended yesterday, with a total of between 15 and 20 submissions, you're in on one of them, but only on a tangent, so of course comments on your particular parody are gonna come in late, like mine's doing now. Don't drop your lederhosen over it, just keep writing, you're good at this and you belong here.

And that's all I have to say about that. ;-)

Hi CML. The Longshanks comment? Not moi. The closest I come to Longshanks is when i was playing golf today and kept slicing my drives wildly. I cannot speak for Meriadoc, as she is half a world away, but she would not hide behind a non-de-plume. Your search will have to continue!

Don't want to make too big a deal about this, CML, but it's been bothering me. I've been acting like some self-appointed behavior cop around here, and it goes way back to when I was here before. It's horrifying to realize the way I've acted. I've always rationalized that I was doing something that needed to be done, but the truth, as you pointed out, is it was just a power trip. Though I'm extremely embarrassed, I'm not planning on leaving or anything. But I won't stay unless I can learn to just ignore stuff I don't like when it happens. Again, I apologize to you and everyone else for being a dick. Come back or don't, but as others have pointed out, you are good at this and you do belong here. And hopefully, *that* is all *I* have to say about that.
