The Lyrics

Unless I was hallucinating, I posted this last summer. I wanted to check something and discovered it's not in the site database. So I'm resubmitting it. It's based on three attributed witticisms of Dorothy Parker: "Runs the gamut of emotions from A to B" (of an actor). "You can lead a whore to culture, but you can make her think." "How could they tell?" (when informed that Calvin Coolidge had died). And a two-line poem: "Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses."
Pithy woman, wasn't mousy, meek.
Pithy woman, her knife-like mind could pique.
Pithy woman
Seated with a few. . .table, not booth.
She wrote books. . .this god's attribute:
Merc'ry.

Pithy woman's name was Parker; she,
Witty woman, reviewed an actor: "He. . ."
Pity po' man ". . .runs the whole gamut. . ." caustically. . .
"Of emotions, A to B."
Ooww!

Pimm's-steeped woman, sotted while
Pithy woman talked with style.
Pitiless Dot softened bile? Not she.

Pithy woman, was part way
Pretty woman--looked OK.
Pithy woman this did say, witty:
"You can lead to culture, alright,
A whore. . .can't make her think"--that's the plight.

Pithy woman--when Cal did die,
Pitiless potshot was reply,
Pithy woman: "What was the way, hey, that they
Could tell?" She slayed 'em with repartee.

She said this regarding a date:
"If you've got bad eyesight, you'll wait. . ."
Jocularly,
"You'll give shock ocularly."
'twas pre-keratotomy.

Ho-ho, pithy woman.
