The Lyrics

Dedicated to Palin's 2012 Running Mate
Ola! Maria, my old friend
I'm sneaking off to you again
There’s a sale on Argentina flights
I think that I can stay for at least five nights
I’ve this vision, from your steamy hot e-mail
(It raised my sail)
I long to be in Buenos Aires.

I told them all I’d hike the Trail
Dismissed the Gov’s police detail
The GPS was off – they couldn’t tell
That I drove straight down to ATL
But a thought, briefly flashed into my mind, “Left my state behind”
I long to be in Buenos Aires.

South Carolina will run fine
It works without me all the time
I’m sure that Jenny will appreciate
What I’ll do tonight with my “soul mate”
And the boys… well it’s only Father’s Day – I can play
And soon I’ll be in Buenos Aires.

Now I bow my head and pray
That next to you soon I will lay
I told my Jenny all about our mess
Our liaison it seems she will not bless
So I mentioned ‘bout the other nine I’ve had – Think she’s mad
Before we met in Buenos Aires.

And as I plan for my campaign
O’re this nation I’ll surely reign
Sarah Palin will be at my side
Together we can stem the rising tide
That’s if I find her… ‘cause she’s bolted out of town – can’t be found
Is she with you in Buenos Aires?

Good take on this strange tale and maybe we will see that ticket in 2012.

The ticket from hell. But keep Sanford away from Palin's daughters.

Funny as can be-- I like the sardonic twists at the end of the phrases, and the zing at the end. The only awkward line for me is in the last stanza "O'er this nation I'll surely reign". Might try juggling the syllabic emphasis, e.g., "as president I'll surely reign", or "over the nation I will reign", etc. Everything else is so consistent with the OS. :)

Funny & clever...

Your pacing is a little off, but then, so is Sanford. Otherwise, you nailed him. Not the way SHE nailed him...
