The Lyrics

On May 13, 2010, this idea came to me. On November 13, the year is not specified, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence. That request came from his wife. Included among the reasons was a problem with his sinuses that led to him producing a sound that was described as "honking." With nowhere else to go, he arrived at the home of his friend, Oscar Madison. Several years earlier, Madison's wife had thrown him out. Asking that he never return. Could two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy? It wasn't easy, especially when Oscar heard Felix "honking."
(instrumental opening)

(Oscar)
Hello, Felix, my old friend.
You woke me up at night again.
Because a sound through our walls creeping
interrupted me while I'm sleeping.
And that honking...
it is planted in my brain.
Still remains.

It was the sound
of sinus.

In restless nights here in New York
I share apartment with a dork.
He's a freak with all his fine cleaning.
With his cooking, he is well-meaning.
But my ears were stabbed
by the pain of his whacked-out nose.
See? There it goes!

It is the sound
of sinus.

And in the naked light I heard
a sound that's worse than any bird.
Worse that taxi horn and jackhammer.
It's a crime, send him to some slammer!
It's a grating song
that noses should not share.
Should not dare.

It is the sound
of sinus

(Felix)
Oscar! Oscar! Oscar! Whoa!
You know the mucus inside grows.
Hear my words about my affliction.
Hurts my breathing and sleep and diction.

(Oscar)
But your words
like silent raindrops fall.

They're blocked out
by sound
of sinus.

Every night I've bowed and prayed
new surgery technique is made.
Hope some doctor gives his appraisal
of this bad situation nasal.
In the meantime
a stain of spaghetti...

(Felix)
No, linguine!

(Oscar)
On apartment wall!
Now garbage haul.

And still there's
the sound...

of sinus.

(Felix, over the closing guitar notes)
Honk! Honk! Honk! Honk! Honk!

Funny stuff, MP, particularly the "prayed/made" substitution. Was unaware of the the S&G with that original song title (don't you hate for that to happen?).

Great Job. But if I were you, I'd get a lawyer. I bet you can get a lot of money out of Paul Simon for plagiarism.

I didn't know that Simon and Garfunkle did a song called "Michael Pacholek"... Couldn't find the OS on youtube, but it sounds a lot like "Sound of Silence" lol

If Oscar and Felix had lived in the Ohio Valley, they could hear Felix doing his ritual in Chicago! A final note from Felix to you..."Great parody! F.U." (from the play - "It took me weeks to figure out that F.U. meant Felix Unger!") ;D

Sorry, Mike, I didn't mean to use your name without your permission. Especially since you weren't born yet! (Mike's note: This is what happens when an idea comes to me and I just go with it without thinking it through. Sorry about that, folks.)
