The Lyrics

I have a condition called sensory integration dysfunction. It means that every waking minute, life borders on what used to be called a 'Bummer' - as in a bad acid trip - save somewhat less intense. Everything is 'turned up to eleven', colors all but scream their blues, greens, yellows burn like unholy suns, browns are the dust of the crematorium still hot from the grates, and black is the burning ashes of life and sanity. All this is gone when that hellish ball from above drops, and then... Then my eyes work right for a change. I still need earplugs. In the realm described below, however - I shall need nothing save clothing, sanity, kindness, and love. No more shall people assay my injury and death, for there, we all shall be 'as naked as the day of our birth' in regards to each other under dim light and quiet roads. Do you wish such a world as an alternative to our present pressure-cooker place that makes Hell chilled with envy?
Hello, darkness, my oldest friend,
I've come to you to make amends,
No more shall blaring sirens come a-scheming,
No more shall lighting burn my eyes beaming,
This quiet and dimness evermore implanted, within my brain,
For IT shall remain,
Evermore shall I can now hear without fear... silence.

In pleasure I walked by myself alone,
Most people, they now kept themselves at home,
The streetlamps were dead and gone elsewhere,
No more could car-lights my eyes burn and glare,
And the sun only showed twelve hours of a day's entire night,
My eyes to blight,
And touch, that too - it made... For silence.

In the naked night I saw,
Solitary persons and animals, all alone,
Speech was quiet enough for me to understand,
The moon was bright enough to fill our minds with glad,
And left behind were the evils and the hatred of the day,
Where they shall remain.
And no, they shall not disturb the time... of silence.

Daylight madness yet remained,
The evil then built itself and stayed,
It crushed all that dared travel then,
It grew destruction every which and when,
And the supposed hell became itself real then and there,
Its fangs to bare.
But it could not penetrate the darkened walls... of Silence.

Those beings bright then slashed and yelled,
For all they had offered up was hell,
Crushing daylight then roared and bit,
Every word then said was a *blood-dripping hit*,
Burning signs then always moving, ever filled with sh*t,
Their screaming ever-madness always true and plain,
They caused us pain.
For whispers ARE the speech of the realm... Where there is silence.

Do I speak truth, or is that daylight realm a wondrous place, where madness reigns suprreme and tries hard to usurp the hours of quiet?

A thought-provoking piece, dennis. I like your last line. I'm not sure I understand your questions, but I do wish for a world in which doctors were better equipped to help patients deal with SID.
